Borderlands Online is playable again in English through an unofficial fan restoration called BLOL, according to GamesRadar+. The China-only MMO entered playtesting after being shut down for 11 years, but the report does not establish an official relaunch or authorization by the rights holder. The project is described as playable online or offline, with bugs and other unfinished elements expected.
What has happened to Borderlands Online?
Borderlands Online was a short-lived MMO that launched only in China. GamesRadar+ reported on October 5, 2026 that a fan-led restoration had entered playtesting, bringing the game back with English localization after an 11-year shutdown.

The revival is now known as BLOL. “Saved” describes the fan effort to make the game accessible again; it does not mean the game has returned as a complete, stable, or permanent service.
How did the fan restoration make it playable in English?
GamesRadar+ reports that modder, dataminer, and indie developer EpicNNG obtained a build of Borderlands Online. The team worked past the login barrier and translated the game from Chinese into English. It also resized parts of the interface to accommodate English text and created new HUD elements to replace Chinese-language versions.

That work means the effort involved adapting the interface as well as translating text. EpicNNG described the determination behind the project this way: “Won’t give up though. I’ll make sure the community gets to experience this game one way or another.”
Is the Borderlands Online revival official?
No official relaunch is established by the available report. This is a fan restoration, not a confirmed return authorized or operated by the publisher or rights holder.

GamesRadar+ reported that EpicNNG said Take-Two had not contacted the team to stop the work. That is the developer’s account as relayed by the outlet, not confirmation from Take-Two or proof of permission. EpicNNG also said he would not help get the game working again if the project faced a cease-and-desist or other legal action.

GamesRadar+ describes BLOL as playable online or offline and says the restoration is not being monetized. These are conditions reported at the time of its coverage, not a guarantee that access will continue or that servers are available now.

The project is still in playtesting. GamesRadar+ relayed EpicNNG’s warning to “expect bugs, broken skills, animations, server outages, and more inconveniences” while the team works on improvements. Treat it as a provisional preservation project rather than a polished live-service MMO.
