Fishing in Brighter Shores is part of the Fisher profession, which connects to the game’s wider profession system. For current progression, use the rewards and requirements shown in-game: a February 2026 update changed profession milestones, activity rewards, and access to some ingredients, while later updates added Fisher-related content. Older guides can still help you recognize tools and locations, but their exact levels and routes may no longer apply.
How Fisher progression works now
Fisher is one of Brighter Shores’ professions, alongside professions such as Forager and Chef, according to the official game overview. Fishing can therefore support more than Fisher progression: fish may also be useful to other professions.
The February 9, 2026 Project Milestone Phase 2 update changed profession milestones and activity rewards. The developers say activities can be better for experience, knowledge, or coins, so check each activity’s displayed rewards rather than assuming one option is best for every goal. The update also removed some ingredients from shops to increase interdependence between professions.
For example, the update identifies Gurnard as an ingredient for Gurnard Soup and Sturlet for Roasted Sturlet, and lists Beetle as bait for Wraddock. These examples show how Fisher can feed into other activities; confirm current recipes and item requirements in-game before planning around them.

Where to fish and what older guides can tell you
A Fisher guide last updated January 15, 2025 by Icy Veins lists a fishing spear purchased from Melv’s Fishing Supplies and these example fish and locations:
| Fish | Location listed in the January 2025 guide |
|---|---|
| Flounders | East Beach |
| Eels | Eel Street Bridge |
| Pufferfish | Wilhope Crossing |
| Gurnards | Pirate Hideout |
| Bass | Seasells Seashore |
| Rays | East Beach |

These are dated examples, not a confirmed current route or a guarantee that every location, requirement, or reward remains unchanged. Use the in-game Fisher interface to check what you can catch and where before travelling.

Choose activities by your goal
There is no verified best post-update Fisher route in the available sources. Compare the current in-game options against what you want, then account for the time and resources involved.
- Experience: Compare the activity’s displayed XP reward with other available choices.
- Knowledge or coins: Check whether another activity better matches either of these rewards.
- Fish for another profession: Consider whether you need a specific catch for a Chef recipe or another requirement.
- Time and logistics: Include travel, selling or banking, and waiting for fish to return when judging a route.
The January 2025 Icy Veins guide recommends weighing travel and selling or banking time against fish respawns, and choosing based on whether you value experience or the fish gathered. That remains a useful way to think about a route, but the guide’s older hourly estimates should not be treated as current performance data.

Passive activities and ventures: verify the unlocks
The January 2025 guide describes passive Fisher activities requiring a fishing rod, empty buckets, and fish-specific bait, and says bait can be gathered through other professions. It also describes timed ventures and names level 20 for passive activities and level 39 for ventures. Those unlock levels and requirements predate the 2026 profession changes, so check the current in-game interface instead of planning around them as confirmed thresholds.
The official news index later listed “Fisher Bounties Launch” on February 23, 2026, and “Monumental Fishing” on March 2, 2026. The announcements establish that Fisher-related content was added, but the index alone does not establish their mechanics or rewards. Inspect their current in-game descriptions for details.
