It is a retro-styled scrolling beat ’em up with platforming and minigames, built as an affectionate tribute to the Italian movie duo. Its references, music and presentation are the main event; its combat is straightforward rather than deep. Players unfamiliar with the films may find less to love.
What kind of game is Slaps and Beans 2?
Slaps and Beans 2 continues the story of the first game, sending Bud and Terence to Africa. It mixes side-scrolling brawling with platform sections, story scenes and minigames. The Steam listing classifies it as an Action/Indie game, developed by Trinity Team and published by Buddy Productions GmbH; it launched on September 22, 2023. Steam
The game’s identity comes from its affection for the films: familiar character types, comic brawling, references and music. Nintendo’s US Switch listing names music by Oliver Onions and advertises signature abilities, power-ups and an enhanced combat system. The English, Italian, German and Spanish voice dubbing helps preserve the connection to the source material. Nintendo

The Games Machine’s October 1, 2023 review, reproduced on Metacritic, called it “The dream game for Bud Spencer and Terence Hill’ lovers.” That captures both its strength and its limitation: recognition and nostalgia are central to the appeal. Nintendo Life’s European Switch review, published September 25, 2023, likewise described it as a labour of love, while its headline characterized the brawling as basic but fun for fans. The review also noted that its spirit could charm some newcomers. Nintendo Life
The main reservations are simple combat, occasional technical or hitbox roughness, difficulty spikes and limited staying power for players who are not invested in the duo. This is not the best fit if you want a brawler built around intricate combos, deep progression or consistently demanding combat.

Is Slaps and Beans 2 fun solo or with co-op?
You can play solo, with AI controlling the other hero, or in two-player couch co-op. The separate party mode supports up to four players for minigames; that four-player figure applies to party mode, not the main co-op campaign. The available listings establish local play, not online co-op. Nintendo Nintendo Life
Solo play is a valid way to experience the story and brawling, but the film jokes and references may land less strongly without familiarity with the movies. A friend who knows the duo’s work can make the co-op experience feel more like sharing the joke. Nintendo notes that accessories may be required for multiplayer; it does not identify a specific controller model as required.
