When did Marathon come out?
Bungie announced that Marathon was live on March 5, 2026. That date also followed Bungie’s December 15, 2025 announcement naming March 5 as the release date: Bungie’s release-date announcement and launch-day announcement.
What game launched?
Bungie describes Marathon as a sci-fi PvP extraction shooter set on Tau Ceti IV. The studio lists PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC as platforms in its Marathon FAQ. Those platform details do not establish a physical edition, price, or particular store listing.
Why does Bungie’s FAQ say no release date is set?
The FAQ’s release-status wording conflicts with Bungie’s dated March 5 launch announcement and its earlier announcement of that date. For whether the game actually launched, the dated launch-day post is the relevant confirmation; the FAQ’s release-date text is stale.

What has Sony said since launch?
In a June 25, 2026 update, Sony Interactive Entertainment said Marathon remained important to its portfolio and that it would continue supporting Bungie as the team builds on Seasons 1 and 2 and works on incubation efforts. This describes Sony’s stated plans, not evidence of sales, player counts, retention, or future commercial performance. Sony’s June 25 update.
