After rescuing BURG.L, open the Map screen: it shows markers for unacquired BURG.L Chips. Use those markers to narrow your search, then check the area-specific prerequisites below. When you find a chip, bring it back to BURG.L; the Tech Chip Swap Shop expands when chips are returned, not merely discovered.
How to find missing BURG.L Chips
- Rescue BURG.L. The chip markers become available after the rescue, according to Obsidian’s Shroom and Doom update notes.
- Open the Map screen. Look for the markers showing unacquired BURG.L Chip locations. Start with a marker in an area you can safely reach rather than searching the whole backyard.
- Check access requirements. Some chips are at the end of story labs; others are behind a key, boss encounter, or area route. The regional guide below identifies reported prerequisites for several named chips.
- Return each chip to BURG.L. Turning it in expands the Tech Chip Swap Shop’s available recipes and upgrades.
The Map markers are the most direct in-game checklist. Obsidian’s Update 1.3 notes also discuss map-interface improvements, including visibility of collected SCA.Bs and Milk Molars; that change does not establish that BURG.L Chip markers were removed. For the patch context, see Grounded Update 1.3.

- Following the main lab progression: Check the Hedge, Pond, and Haze Lab markers if those areas are part of your current route.
- Ready for boss-gated areas: Defeating the Assistant Manager opens access relevant to the Black Anthill and Sandbox chips.
- Exploring the Pond Depths or Picnic Table: Treat the Sunken Outpost and Picnic chips as key-gated chest detours; locate the relevant key before spending time searching for the chest.
- Searching the Woodpile: The reported location is the Termite Den’s depths, but the reference does not provide a more precise route.

Do not confuse chips with BURG.L quests
Chip collection and BURG.L’s repeatable quest system are separate progression systems. Obsidian’s November 13, 2023 Update 1.3 notes describe Apprentice Quests unlocking sequentially, with roughly 100 total, and say Daily Quests become available after the first 20 Apprentice Quests. Those figures concern quests, not the number of BURG.L Chips.
Older guides may mention an initial Grasslands chip near BURG.L or an Anthill chip tied to the Chipsleuth quest. Shacknews’ September 4, 2020 guide explicitly described itself as under construction, so it is historical context rather than a current exhaustive location list: All BURG.L chip locations – Grounded.

Do not assume that a standard-world checklist describes every remixed yard. Obsidian’s Fully Yoked Update 1.4 notes describe New Game+ as a remixed backyard and state that every BURG.L Chip awards a trinket with randomized properties in a remixed yard. The same update announced Grounded for PlayStation 4 and 5 and Nintendo Switch; check that location guidance matches the player’s edition and mode.
