It is an old 32-bit, or Win32, component. Historical records show more than one build, with differences in version and file size. That means there is no single universal copy that can safely be downloaded and substituted for every BlindWrite or DAEMON Tools installation.

During installation:
- Right-click the installer.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Accept the default application folder unless you have a specific reason to change it.
- Allow the installer to add its own plug-ins and drivers.
- Restart Windows after installation if requested.
Current software may no longer include this historical plug-in. That is normal. A modern release may support different image formats or use a different architecture.

Do not assume that a download labelled “64-bit” is correct. For this file, an unexpected 64-bit replacement is a warning sign.

Fix 4: Test compatibility with Windows 10 or Windows 11

Fix 7: Repair Windows components with DISM and SFC
bw5mount.dll is not normally a Windows-protected file, so System File Checker will not usually restore it. DISM and SFC are appropriate when you also have broader symptoms, such as damaged Windows features, repeated system errors, or other built-in programs failing.
Open an elevated Command Prompt:
- Open Start.

- Then run:

Microsoft recommends running DISM before SFC in its System File Checker guidance.

regsvr32 is used for DLLs that provide a registration entry point such as DllRegisterServer. It is not a general-purpose command for making any missing DLL work.
Do not routinely run:
regsvr32 bw5mount.dll
Do not use this as cleanup:
regsvr32 /u bw5mount.dll
If you already ran the command and received a message saying that the module loaded but an entry point was not found, that does not necessarily mean the file is damaged. It may simply mean that this application plug-in is not self-registering.
The correct repair is to let the host application’s installer place and configure the plug-in.
