Notebookcheck’s 2024 test found that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 could deliver high frame rates on a desktop RTX 4080, while results varied sharply with resolution, preset and hardware. The review also found uneven image quality and upscaling behavior that did not consistently help in its 4K tests. Its figures describe the review’s specific game build and test systems—not current performance guarantees.
What Notebookcheck tested
Florian Glaser’s review, translated by Daisy Dickson, was published November 1, 2024, and the page lists an update on February 18, 2026. The benchmark results below are from the review’s 2024 test configurations; the page update date does not make those measurements a fresh test of a later game build. Notebookcheck’s review lists Windows 11, NVIDIA driver 566.03, AMD driver 24.10.1 and Intel driver 101.6044.
Desktop and laptop systems
The desktop graphics cards were an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 and an AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT, each paired with an Intel Core i9-13900K on an Asus ROG Strix Z790-F. The laptop systems ranged from an XMG Neo 16 E23 with RTX 4090 Laptop GPU to a Medion Erazer Scout E20 with RTX 4050 Laptop GPU. Other tested laptops were a Razer Blade 16 Mid 23 (RTX 4080 Laptop GPU), XMG Pro 15 E23 (RTX 4070 Laptop GPU) and Razer Blade 14 Mid 23 (RTX 4060 Laptop GPU). The review also tested an Asus Zenbook S 14 with Intel Arc Graphics 140V and an Asus ROG Ally Z1 Extreme with Radeon 780M integrated graphics.
These are not interchangeable GPU labels: laptop power limits, cooling, CPU and memory configuration all affect a result. The review’s desktop RTX 4080 figures should not be applied to every laptop equipped with an RTX 4080 Laptop GPU, for example.

How the in-game benchmark works
Notebookcheck describes a sequence of action-heavy scenes lasting just under 50 seconds, followed by a detailed evaluation. It can be launched from the graphics menu only while in multiplayer. The review tested 1920×1080, 2560×1440 and 3840×2160 at multiple presets, with selected comparisons using DLSS or FSR. The benchmark reports CPU, GPU and VRAM utilization alongside performance across multiple zones.
The review considered an average of at least 40 fps—and preferably 60 fps—a suitable target for a fast multiplayer game. That is the reviewer’s guidance, not an official minimum or a guarantee that a given average will feel smooth in every match; frame-time consistency and the player’s preferred responsiveness also matter.

RTX 4080 desktop results: resolution and preset matter
The following results are Notebookcheck’s reported averages for its desktop RTX 4080 test system. The 2024 measurements are specific to the test build, drivers and configurations described above; they are not independent retests or universal predictions.
| Resolution and setting | Reported result |
|---|---|
| 1920×1080, Basic | 241 fps |
| 1920×1080, Extreme | 180 fps |
| 2560×1440, Extreme | 144 fps |
| 2560×1440, Extreme with DLSS Quality | 151 fps |
| 3840×2160, Extreme | 93 fps |
| 3840×2160, Extreme with DLSS Quality | 94 fps |
Within this single test system, raising the preset from Basic to Extreme at 1080p coincided with a lower reported average. At 1440p, DLSS Quality provided a modest increase in the reported result; at 4K, the measured change was only one frame per second. The small UHD difference should not be read as a general DLSS result: it is one review’s measurement under one configuration.

What the lower-end examples show—and do not show
Notebookcheck reported 43 fps at 1920×1080 Balanced on its Radeon 780M system and 36 fps at the same resolution and preset on its Intel Arc Graphics 140V system. These are results from the tested Asus ROG Ally Z1 Extreme and Asus Zenbook S 14 configurations, respectively. They illustrate why the broad assessment that requirements were fairly moderate for a shooter needs context: a result near or below the review’s own 40 fps target is not equivalent to the RTX 4080 desktop figures, and other devices using the same graphics names may perform differently.
Image quality and upscaling: the “shade” in the test
The reviewer described image quality as decent to sometimes good, while noting that some textures and effects could be better even at maximum quality. The review also reported problems with upscaling in its test build. In a particular menu behavior, enabling DLSS could switch to FidelityFX CAS after leaving the menu unless sharpening was set to zero. In its UHD testing, DLSS or FSR Quality sometimes brought little improvement or worse performance.

These are observations from the reviewed build, not confirmation of behavior in the current game version. If you compare performance on your own system, check that the intended upscaler remains selected after leaving the settings menu, and treat a single benchmark average as a starting point rather than proof of stable multiplayer performance.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Settings and setup details worth knowing
The review found extensive graphics options, explanatory text, a VRAM display and comparison images for some controls, making it possible to adjust visual quality and monitor resource use. It also reported shader preloading and, at the time, an Activision account requirement and a phone-number requirement for the Steam version. Account requirements can change; the 2024 report does not establish today’s rules.

Notebookcheck’s overall assessment was that graphics requirements were fairly moderate for a first-person shooter and suggested the game had been optimized well. Read that as the reviewer’s judgment of the tested configurations, alongside the reported image-quality and upscaling drawbacks—not as a promise that all PCs will run the game well.
