When was Black Ops 6 Season 02 announced?
Call of Duty Staff published the Season 02 announcement on January 22, 2025. The publisher said the update was scheduled to arrive Tuesday, January 28, beginning at 9 a.m. PT across platforms, with free and premium content. Its headline summary promised five Multiplayer maps, more than six new weapons across the season, a new Zombies map, and limited-time modes. These were plans announced ahead of launch, not independent verification of later delivery. Call of Duty’s announcement described the season as “upending the new order of Avalon.”
Season 02 was an update to Black Ops 6, not a separate game purchase. The announcement does not establish the season’s current status in October 2026.
What did the trailer show?
The official announcement page embeds the trailer. GameSpot’s January 22, 2025 report says it showed the new Multiplayer maps, DLC weapons, operator skins, and a first look at The Tomb’s gameplay and Wonder Weapons. GameSpot also noted dual-wielded katanas and a remix of Bush’s 1996 song “Machinehead.” Those additional trailer observations come from GameSpot’s contemporaneous report.

Which Multiplayer maps and modes were announced?
The publisher named three maps for launch and two for later in the season:

Planned modes included Overdrive, Gun Game, Third Wheel Gunfight, and Couples Dance Off. Ranked Play was to receive a new season and rewards. These are the publisher’s announced plans; the announcement alone does not confirm when or whether each item ultimately arrived. Which weapons were revealed?
Four weapons were specifically named in the January 22 announcement. Call of Duty said more than six weapons would arrive across the season, so the four below were not presented as the full seasonal total.

Those weapon characteristics are Call of Duty’s descriptions, not independent test results. The publisher also previewed a melee-focused group for mid-season and listed attachments including an Underbarrel Crossbow and Belt-Fed Magazine.

The Season 02 Battle Pass was described as having free tiers and three base weapons, alongside weapon blueprints, operator skins, calling cards, finishing moves, and emotes. Call of Duty also named BlackCell as a premium offering and The Terminator as a store operator. The announcement did not provide current availability or pricing details for these items.

What did Season 02 plan for Warzone?
For Warzone, Call of Duty emphasized gameplay tuning, quality-of-life improvements, and bug fixes, saying some content originally planned for Season 02 was being shifted. The announcement listed Reactive Armor for launch, Low Profile for mid-season, and the return of Battle Royale Ranked Play with seasonal rewards. It also listed the maps and modes available at launch. This roadmap should not be read as proof that all features arrived on the original schedule; the announcement does not establish their eventual delivery.
