Destiny 2: The Final Shape is the expansion in which the Guardian and allies pursue the Witness into the Pale Heart, a destination inside the Traveler. It launched on June 4, 2024, and adds the Prismatic subclass, a campaign with normal and Legendary difficulty, and the Salvation’s Edge raid.
When did The Final Shape come out?
Bungie released The Final Shape on June 4, 2024. It is a released expansion, not an upcoming one. Bungie’s expansion guide lists the launch date.
What is the story about?
The Guardian, the Vanguard, and their allies enter the Pale Heart of the Traveler and pursue the Witness to stop its plan. Bungie’s launch overview introduces the premise; this summary avoids later plot details.
What is Prismatic, and how do you unlock it?
Prismatic is a build-focused subclass, not a separate game mode. It lets players combine selected abilities and features from Light and Darkness subclasses, drawing from Arc, Solar, Void, Stasis, and Strand. What is the Pale Heart?
The Pale Heart is The Final Shape’s destination inside the Traveler. Players first encounter it through the campaign’s more linear journey; after the campaign, it continues to open into locations, challenges, and activities. Bungie describes the destination in its expansion guide.
Does the campaign have a harder difficulty?
Yes. At the campaign’s start, Bungie labels the standard option “Be Brave” and the harder option “Become Legend.” Legendary has harder missions and stronger combatants. Bungie says completing every Legendary mission provides additional rewards per class, without specifying a reward quantity in its campaign description.

What raid comes with The Final Shape?
Salvation’s Edge is the expansion’s raid. Bungie announced its launch for June 7, 2024, and recommended completing the campaign and the Wild Card Exotic quest first for the best story experience. That recommendation appears in Bungie’s launch overview.
What do The Final Shape editions include?
Bungie’s published edition descriptions distinguish the bundles by campaign access, Year 7 Episodes, the Dungeon Key, and physical collectibles. These are the listed inclusions; current platform storefront listings determine what is available to buy and how it is packaged.

Is The Final Shape free?
No: Bungie classifies The Final Shape as a paid campaign. Some introductory content for paid campaigns may be accessible without buying the expansion, but that does not grant the full campaign. Is Destiny 2 still playable?
In an announcement dated May 21, 2026, Bungie said Destiny 2 would remain playable after its planned final live-service content update on June 9, 2026. That statement addresses playability, not a promise of ongoing content updates. Because service plans can change, consult Bungie’s announcement and any newer official updates for the latest status.
