- Campaign: The cinematic single-player story was available during the trial.
- Multiplayer: Trial players could access the Multiplayer offering, except for Ranked Play.
- Zombies: The Zombies mode was included, including its Round-Based maps and Directed Mode.
Call of Duty said the trial included more than 40 Multiplayer maps and all six Round-Based Zombies maps. Ranked Play was the important Multiplayer exception: the promotion should not be described as including every Multiplayer feature.
It was a Game Pass member benefit, not a permanent free game
The wording matters. This was a limited free-access event for Game Pass members, not a permanent conversion of Black Ops 6 into a free-to-play title. When the October 16 cutoff passed, continued access depended on the purchase or subscription terms that applied afterward.
Xbox separately lists Black Ops 6 as a purchasable game and distinguishes cloud-play requirements by Game Pass tier. Those plans, prices, cloud requirements, and regional availability can change, so readers should confirm the current terms directly in the Xbox store or Game Pass listing instead of relying on the expired event.

Why the trial launched in October 2025
The free-access week coincided with the launch of Season 06: The Haunting, which began on October 9, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. PT. Trial players could sample seasonal content released with that update, including the Gravity, Rig, and Mothball Multiplayer maps.
The seasonal Zombies content also included Haunted Havoc, a limited-time mode. That timing gave Game Pass members an opportunity to try the base game alongside the new Halloween-themed content, but the seasonal availability itself was tied to the 2025 event and should not be treated as a current offer.

Can you still play Black Ops 6 after the trial?
Yes, but not because the October 2025 trial is still running. A reader who wants to play now must use whatever purchase or Game Pass access option is currently offered for their platform and region.
If you enjoyed the trial and want to keep playing after the October 16 cutoff, look for the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Cross-Gen Bundle for your platform. Purchasing the bundle is separate from the expired promotion, and edition names, physical or digital availability, and platform compatibility should be checked before buying.

Progress carries across supported platforms
Black Ops 6 supports cross-progression through an Activision account. Players who link supported platforms to the same Activision account can continue their progression across those platforms, subject to Activision’s account rules and the requirements of each platform.
Cross-progression does not mean that every platform automatically receives a free copy or that a single purchase unlocks every edition everywhere. It refers to progression continuity under the applicable linked-account and platform conditions.
