The Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 gameplay reveal trailer, published August 19, 2025, introduced the game’s co-op campaign, multiplayer and Zombies. The game has since launched: Activision lists November 14, 2025 as its release date, and its official site now says “Available Now.”
What does the Black Ops 7 gameplay reveal trailer show?
The trailer presents a dark, high-conflict tone and previews three pillars of the game: campaign, competitive multiplayer and round-based Zombies. “Gritty” describes the trailer’s presentation, not a separate gameplay mode or an objective product specification.
Activision sets the story in 2035, with David Mason leading a JSOC team to Avalon amid violent conflict and psychological warfare. The campaign moves through settings ranging from Japan to the Mediterranean, according to the official game page.
How do the campaign, multiplayer and Zombies work?
Campaign: play alone or with others
The campaign supports solo play and cooperative play. Activision also describes Endgame as a social experience connected to the campaign, rather than presenting the story as only a single-player mode.

Multiplayer: fast movement and launch maps
Activision describes multiplayer as Treyarch’s fast, frenetic style with Omnimovement. The official launch article reported 18 multiplayer maps at launch, alongside the Overclock system and the Overload and Skirmish modes (launch announcement).
There is a discrepancy between two official descriptions: Activision’s product page lists 16 6v6 maps and two 20v20 maps, while the later launch article gives a total of 18 maps at launch. The 18-map figure is the launch notice’s count; the product page’s breakdown is an earlier specification, so the two should not be treated as interchangeable descriptions of the same map mix.

Zombies is a round-based mode set in the Dark Aether. The current official page lists Standard, Directed, Survival and Cursed modes, as well as Dead Ops Arcade 4.

Activision lists PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Xbox PC, Battle.net and Steam as platforms or access routes; it is also available through Game Pass with an active qualifying subscription.
