What the 2022 guide title means today
The original “best settings” phrasing reflects common creator-video language, not evidence that one setup works best for everyone. This guide separates historical details from current starting advice: Activision’s controls documentation dates to 2019, while the numerical sensitivity suggestions below come from Google Play editorial guidance available in 2026. Menus and available options can change by game version and device.
Choose a firing mode and HUD that fit your hands
Simple Mode
In Simple Mode, the game can fire automatically when your crosshair focuses on an enemy. It is an option for players who prefer fewer manual firing actions.
Advanced Mode
Advanced Mode supports manual firing, customizable HUD elements, and weapon-specific choices between ADS and hip-fire. Activision’s controls guide describes the Custom Layout screen as allowing players to drag and drop on-screen elements and change their size and opacity.

Start with the controls you can comfortably reach without losing a clear view of the screen. A two-thumb layout may suit some players; others may prefer to assign actions across more fingers. The documentation establishes customization, not a universally superior two-, three-, or four-finger arrangement. Prioritize reliable reach and comfort over copying another player’s layout.
Set sensitivity with a repeatable practice routine
Activision recommends trying preset sensitivity options or the available sliders to suit your play style. Its 2019 overview described 17 aiming sensitivity sliders at that time; that is a historical count, not a confirmed count for the current game interface.

Google Play’s current editorial guide suggests these as starting points:

These values are not guarantees and may feel different with your device, screen size, touch habits, and game mode. To tune them, use the same practice drill after each change: make one adjustment, repeat the drill, and judge whether you can turn and track targets without overshooting or struggling to move far enough. Change only one control at a time so you can tell what affected the feel.

Decide whether to use gyroscope or aim assist
Gyroscope
Gyroscope aiming uses phone movement to affect aiming or looking. Activision describes an option to enable it only while aiming down sights (ADS); Google Play’s guide presents it as an optional control that may be useful, particularly in Battle Royale. Try touch-only aiming first if you do not want movement to affect your aim, or test motion controls in a mode where you can practice without pressure.
Aim assist
Activision describes Aim Assist as helping aim at an enemy while aiming down sights. Google Play suggests enabling it for players who want that assistance. It is a configurable preference, not evidence that every player will perform better with it.

Balance graphics quality and frame rate
For a performance-oriented starting point, Google Play recommends Low Graphics Quality, Max Frame Rate, and turning off Depth of Field and Real-Time Shadows. The guide does not provide device-by-device benchmarks, so these settings should not be read as a measured guarantee of smoother play. The highest frame-rate option and stable graphics choices can vary by device and game version.
Activision’s 2019 controls documentation described Low, Medium, and High graphics and frame-rate choices. Those labels document the interface at the time, not necessarily every current device’s options. If your menu offers different settings, use the options actually available on your device and make changes one at a time.

Choose a field of view for visibility, not a promised advantage
Activision’s 2019 guide said first-person Camera FOV could be adjusted from 51 to 75. Google Play suggests around 75 as a possible balanced view. Treat 75 as a preference to test, not an objective performance advantage: a wider view changes how much of the scene is visible, and the cited guidance does not establish that it improves results for everyone.
Touch controls or a controller?
Touch controls allow you to use the game’s on-screen HUD. Activision Support says controllers are supported in Multiplayer and Battle Royale, but device-native controls are still needed to navigate menus such as lobbies, settings, and loadouts. Controller compatibility can depend on the phone or tablet, so confirm support for your specific device before choosing a model.

A practical order for tuning your setup
- Pick your firing mode: choose Simple or Advanced based on whether you want automatic firing or manual control and weapon-specific firing choices.
- Arrange the HUD: in Custom Layout, place and size controls so the actions you use are reachable and do not unnecessarily obstruct your view.
- Establish a sensitivity baseline: use the suggested values as starting points, not targets you must keep.
- Test one change at a time: repeat the same practice drill after each adjustment and keep only changes that feel controllable.
- Test optional aids: try gyroscope, ADS-only gyroscope, or Aim Assist according to your preference and the mode you play.
- Adjust performance settings: try the performance-focused graphics suggestions if they suit your device, then assess how the game feels rather than assuming every device responds identically.
