In Fang Wars you choose Vampires or Werewolves, work with your side to complete faction missions, and earn progress toward rewards. Season 9 launches October 14, 2026 at 5 PM PT, so the event is not live yet as of this writing on October 9, 2026.
How Fang Wars works
Fang Wars is the faction event inside Season 9. When it goes live, you pick one side, Vampires or Werewolves, and your progress comes from completing missions with that faction against the other. The official announcement, published by Call of Duty Staff on October 7, 2026, describes the mechanic at this level of detail, and it is the only source for the event’s structure. You can read it directly in the official Call of Duty blog post.
The announcement does not publish scoring values, match-by-match rules, faction balancing, or a separate event schedule, so anything beyond choosing a side and earning faction progress should be treated as unconfirmed until Activision says more.
Faction rewards compared
The two factions have their own weapon blueprint and team identity. Both sides also receive the same victory calling card, and the winning side earns a gold version of its team card.

The announcement names no difference in power between the two blueprints, and it does not say that either faction has a gameplay advantage. Your choice should rest on which rifle you want and which side’s identity you prefer.
Shared milestone rewards
Activision says other milestone rewards are available to both factions regardless of which side you pick. The announcement names three:
- Purifier — Deadly Nightshade Operator Skill Skin
- Type 19 — Petal Pattern Assault Rifle Blueprint
- Swagger Strongbox
The announcement does not say how many milestones there are or what each one requires.

The rest of Season 9
Fang Wars sits alongside other Season 9 content that the announcement lists. These items are context for the season, not additional Fang Wars mechanics:
- The Leader’s Kill Confirmed multiplayer mode
- Returning limited-time modes
- Attack of the Undead on Haunted Hacienda and Haunted Standoff
- A Grav Assault Rifle
- A Battle Pass and seasonal events, plus store promotions
The announcement says Season 9 is the first community-voted season: players chose the Vampires vs Werewolves theme and the Battle Pass designs through community voting.
Timing and what remains unconfirmed
The October 14, 2026 launch at 5 PM PT refers to Season 9 as a whole. The announcement does not give Fang Wars its own start time, duration, or end date. In UTC, 5 PM PT on October 14 is 00:00 on October 15, because Pacific time is in daylight saving during October.

The following points are not specified in the announcement:
- When Fang Wars ends
- How faction progress is scored
- Whether regions or accounts are excluded from the event
- Eligibility rules for rewards

Because the announcement gives no evidence that one faction is stronger, choose on preference:

- Pick Vampires if you want the SO-14 — Moonlit Marksman Rifle and the Vampire identity.
- Pick Werewolves if you want the Type 25 — Lone Wolf Assault Rifle and the Werewolf identity.
- Pick whichever side you plan to stay with for the whole event, since the gold team card goes only to the winning faction and switching sides is not described in the announcement.
Everyone who plays Fang Wars earns the victory calling card for their faction, and the shared milestone rewards are available either way.
Once Season 9 is live, the official post remains the reference for any changes to the event’s terms.
