That figure is player spending on the game—not a separately reported $1 billion in revenue recognized by Activision. The company later said lifetime consumer spending since the game’s October 2019 launch passed $3 billion in Q2 2023.
What did Activision Blizzard report?
In its full-year results, Activision Blizzard said that 2021 worldwide consumer spending on Call of Duty: Mobile exceeded $1 billion. The company’s FY2021 results report the completed calendar-year milestone. Its 2021 Annual Report likewise described annual consumer spending as well above $1 billion, calling 2021 a record year after the game launched in China.
The timing matters: in August 2021, Activision Blizzard said the game was “on track” to exceed $1 billion in consumer spending for the year. That was a forecast, not the final result. The later FY2021 report confirmed that the threshold had been passed.
Does the $1 billion mean Activision earned that amount?
Not necessarily. The title-specific figure is described as consumer spending: money spent by players in the game. It should not be presented as $1 billion in revenue recognized by Activision. The cited company materials do not provide a separate Call of Duty: Mobile recognized-revenue figure for 2021.

The FY2021 release also says the game’s net bookings grew strongly, but consumer spending and net bookings are distinct terms in the company’s reporting. The release does not say they are interchangeable, so the $1 billion milestone should be attributed to consumer spending.
How does the $3 billion figure compare?
In its Q2 2023 results, Activision Blizzard said lifetime worldwide consumer spending on Call of Duty: Mobile had passed $3 billion since the game launched in October 2019. This is a cumulative figure through Q2 2023, not a figure for 2023 alone or for any single year. It covers a different period from the more-than-$1-billion annual milestone for 2021.
