Activision says Warzone will add Modern Warfare 4 content and seasonal progression when Season 1 begins shortly after launch. The publisher has not yet detailed a full Warzone redesign.
When does Modern Warfare 4 come out?
Activision lists October 23, 2026 as the release date for Modern Warfare 4. It is announced for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2, and will not be available on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. Activision’s announcement has the launch and platform details.

When will Modern Warfare 4 content reach Warzone?
The Warzone connection is scheduled to begin with Season 1, which Activision says will arrive “shortly after” the game launches. The announcement does not give a calendar date for the season, so it does not establish a same-day Warzone update on October 23.
Activision describes the planned connection as an integration of Modern Warfare 4 content and seasonal progression between the two games. That is the confirmed scope so far; it does not amount to a published feature list for a complete Warzone overhaul.

What is changing for Warzone on PS4 and Xbox One?
Warzone will stop being playable on PS4 and Xbox One starting with Season 1. Activision says new downloads for those platforms end June 4, while players who already have the game can continue playing until Season 1. The in-game store is set to be removed June 25. These are the dates in Activision’s announcement; check its current guidance closer to the transition in case details change.
This Warzone change is separate from Modern Warfare 4’s platform availability: the new game itself is not announced for PS4 or Xbox One. Players on those consoles should not assume that access to Warzone before Season 1 means they can play the new mainline game.

Has Activision explained the Warzone “revamp”?
Not in full. The announcement confirms new Modern Warfare 4 content and seasonal progression in Warzone, but does not specify a complete map, mode, gameplay or interface overhaul. The official Call of Duty intel hub has published later beta and Resurgence updates, but those notices do not fill in the overall Season 1 change list. Treat “revamped” as an unconfirmed description of the scope rather than a guaranteed redesign.

Internet connection
Activision Support says continuous internet access is required for Modern Warfare 4 multiplayer, including private matches, and for DMZ, because the game uses texture streaming.
DMZ is a separate mode
Xbox Wire reported that DMZ will launch alongside Modern Warfare 4 and described it as an extraction shooter. Studio Multiplayer Creative Director Joe Cecot put it this way: “We like to think of DMZ as an action extraction shooter.” That announcement concerns DMZ, not the details of Warzone’s Season 1 integration.
