The Call of Duty: Vanguard beta ended on September 20, 2021. Its codes were for early access during that limited-time event, not for joining a current beta. Activision’s published instructions described how eligible physical-preorder and promotional codes were redeemed, but do not establish whether any particular unused code would still be accepted today.
How Vanguard beta codes worked
During the 2021 beta, an eligible early-access code from a physical preorder or special promotion could be redeemed on Activision’s beta redemption page while signed in to an Activision Account. Activision’s September 10, 2021 guide said that digital preorders were automatically registered for early access; those players did not need to redeem a separate code.

The code process was for scheduled early-access windows. Activision’s guide said the beta required internet access, and the published event dates have passed. An old code should not be treated as a present-day entitlement.
When the beta was available
Activision announced two beta weekends in September 2021. Access depended on the platform and phase of the second weekend:
#1 Best Overall
- Rise on every front Dogfight over the Pacific, airdrop over France, defend Stalingrad with a sniper's precision and blast through advancing forces in North Africa
- Through a deeply engaging single player Campaign a select group of soldiers from different countries rise to meet the world's gravest threat
- Call of Duty Vanguard will also usher in a new and unparalleled Call of Duty Warzone integration post launch
- Some features may require an internet connection and an online subscription
| Platform | Published 2021 window | Access arrangement |
|---|---|---|
| PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 | September 10–13, and September 16–20 | The first weekend was the PlayStation early-access period. During the first two days of the second weekend, PlayStation had open access; the event was open across platforms from September 18 through 20. |
| Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One | September 16–20 | Early access during September 16–17 required a preorder or code. Access was open to all players across platforms September 18–20. |
| Battle.net PC | September 16–20 | Early access during September 16–17 required a preorder or code. Access was open to all players across platforms September 18–20. |
These are historical dates, not current availability. Activision’s September 16, 2021 update also said that Xbox Live Gold was not required for Xbox owners during the open-beta period.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Does an unused code still work?
Activision’s published guides explain the original code flow and event schedule, but they do not document whether the redemption system currently accepts any specific unused code. So it is not possible to confirm from those instructions that a legacy code will work—or to conclude that every unused code is rejected. Even if a code can be submitted, the beta access window it was meant to unlock has ended.

What a code cannot do now
- It cannot be relied on to join a current Vanguard beta; the published beta schedule ended September 20, 2021.
- Buying a physical copy of Vanguard now is not an established way to gain access to the ended beta.
- A guide, manual, controller, or headset does not restore beta access.
