Short answer: CameraFi Live is the closer fit if you want a mobile live-production app that can place a prerecorded clip in a broadcast as an overlay. Larix Broadcaster is better documented for sending live camera video from a phone to YouTube. Neither app’s reviewed official documentation confirms hands-free, continuous looping of a stored video as the main YouTube stream. If reliable looping is essential, don’t assume either app can do it; verify the exact app and device first or use a playout service that explicitly supports looping.
What each app is documented to do
| Decision point | CameraFi Live | Larix Broadcaster |
|---|---|---|
| Primary documented role | Mobile live production with overlays, camera and other sources; YouTube is among its listed destinations. CameraFi | Mobile live capture and encoder publishing for video and audio over protocols including RTMP and SRT. Softvelum |
| Prerecorded video | CameraFi’s guide and FAQ describe adding video files or broadcasting prerecorded video through an overlay feature. This supports a clip-in-the-composition use case, but does not establish full-screen file playout or looping. CameraFi | The reviewed official product and YouTube encoder documentation describe live capture, streaming and recording. They do not document selecting a stored video file as the stream source or looping it. Softvelum |
| YouTube setup | CameraFi’s setup guide describes connecting a YouTube account and configuring a broadcast. Its 2025 guide says first-time live-streaming activation may take up to 24 hours. CameraFi | Softvelum documents entering YouTube’s RTMP server URL and stream key; YouTube lists Larix among mobile encoders. Softvelum · YouTube Help |
| Best-documented fit | Overlay-oriented mobile production, including a prerecorded clip as an overlay. | Live phone-camera contribution and encoder-style publishing. |
| Looping and unattended operation | Continuous looping, restart at end of file, hands-free running and long-duration reliability are not established by the reviewed official material. | Stored-file playout, continuous looping and unattended running are not established by the reviewed official material. |
The distinction matters: adding a clip to a live composition is not the same as using it as the uninterrupted primary source. Even if a clip appears on screen, that alone does not prove that it fills the broadcast, restarts at the end, or keeps playing without intervention.
Which one should you choose?
Choose CameraFi Live for an overlay-based production
CameraFi is the more relevant option if you want to combine a phone-based live production with an overlaid prerecorded clip, graphics or other production elements. Its documentation describes video files as an overlay/source feature. It does not confirm that the clip becomes a full-screen, continuously repeating stream source, so check the behavior you need rather than inferring it from the overlay feature.
Choose Larix Broadcaster for live camera encoding
Larix is the clearer fit when the video source is a live phone camera and you want to publish through an encoder workflow. Softvelum documents RTMP setup for YouTube, including the server URL and stream key, and recommends video-plus-audio configuration for YouTube. YouTube’s encoder help lists Larix as a mobile encoder. Recording capability does not establish stored-file playback.

Choose neither on the assumption it will loop
If your requirement is a prerecorded video that repeats indefinitely as the main YouTube broadcast, the documentation reviewed does not verify that workflow in either app. Treat looping, seamless restart and unattended operation as unconfirmed until you test them on the intended phone, operating system and app version.
Set up and test before relying on a long stream
- Check YouTube eligibility. Make sure live streaming is enabled for the YouTube channel and complete any required verification. CameraFi’s setup material says first-time activation may take up to 24 hours. Its older tutorial discusses “Go Live Now” and “Event” choices and eligibility; confirm current options and requirements in YouTube because they can change. CameraFi
- Configure the app for the source you actually have. In CameraFi, use the documented video overlay workflow if the clip is part of a live composition. In Larix, configure the YouTube RTMP destination using YouTube’s server URL and stream key. Do not treat Larix’s recording feature as a file-playout control.
- Run a private or unlisted test on the same setup. Use the same phone, operating system, app version and network planned for the broadcast. Test the exact clip and duration you intend to use.
- Verify the behavior that documentation leaves open. Check whether the clip is the main source or only an overlay, whether it fills the frame, whether it restarts automatically at the end, and whether the transition is acceptable. Confirm that audio stays synchronized and that playback continues when the phone locks or the app is backgrounded, if you expect that.
- Test interruptions and recovery. Observe what happens during an incoming call, brief network loss or app interruption. Confirm whether the broadcast resumes and whether the file continues at the right point. The reviewed pages do not establish these behaviors.
- Check current YouTube constraints and content rights. Follow YouTube’s current live-stream requirements and use video and audio you have permission to broadcast. CameraFi’s FAQ warns that using someone else’s content can raise copyright concerns. CameraFi
Copyright and reused content still matter
Sending a prerecorded clip through a live-streaming app does not grant rights to the clip. Use material you created, licensed or otherwise have permission to broadcast, including the music and other audio in it. CameraFi’s FAQ specifically cautions about copyright when using someone else’s content. YouTube’s current rules and eligibility requirements can change, so check them before scheduling a long broadcast.
