They may see the original broadcast’s chat replay, including messages and Super Chats sent while it was live, but that archived chat does not accept new purchases. A viewer may be able to send a Super Chat only while watching an eligible active livestream or Premiere with live chat available.
Active livestream vs. replay: what changes?

YouTube describes Super Chats as purchases that highlight messages in live chat during streams and Premieres. Its guidance separately explains that ended streams may retain a replay of the original chat, while live chat itself is unavailable after the stream ends. Seeing an old highlighted purchase in chat replay does not mean a viewer can make another one. YouTube Help: Learn about live streams; YouTube Help: Moderate live chat.
Does a 24/7 schedule change the answer?
No. The relevant question is whether the viewer is watching the currently active broadcast or an ended broadcast segment—not whether the channel describes its schedule as 24/7. If the broadcast is active and its live chat is available, an eligible viewer may be able to send a Super Chat. If the viewer opens an ended stream as a replay, the visible chat is the original chat history and cannot take new Super Chats. YouTube’s published guidance does not describe a special replay exception for always-on gaming streams.
A continuously scheduled channel can still have broadcasts or segments that viewers encounter after they have ended. Judge each viewing state on its own rather than assuming that the channel’s overall schedule keeps every archive’s chat live.

What a gaming creator needs for Super Chats
- Meet YouTube Partner Program and feature requirements. Super Chat and Super Stickers are fan-funding features with eligibility requirements; status can vary by channel and feature.
- Accept the Commerce Product Module. YouTube says creators must accept it to use fan-funding features, subject to the stated provision for some creators covered by an older addendum.
- Turn on the feature and have live chat available. YouTube says Supers are automatically available on eligible live streams and Premieres where live chat is turned on. Check the channel’s current status in YouTube Studio’s Earn tab and consult YouTube’s eligibility guidance.

Replay views and other ways a gaming stream may earn
Super Chats are not a new revenue option for viewers arriving at an ended stream’s replay. YouTube lists ads and channel memberships separately from Supers; their availability and operation are distinct from live chat. Ads may appear on live content or replays depending on eligibility and settings, but YouTube notes that ad slots are not guaranteed. YouTube states that creators receive 70% of confirmed Supers revenue after local sales tax and iOS App Store fees are deducted, and that YouTube covers transaction costs such as credit-card fees. This is YouTube’s stated calculation for confirmed Supers revenue, not a guaranteed take-home amount for every purchase or jurisdiction.
