A 24/7 bhajan “radio” channel on YouTube is a livestream sent by an encoder—not an ordinary YouTube playlist left playing. First clear the rights to every recording and the underlying music and lyrics for your intended use and territories. Then send a tested, repeating audio-and-visual playlist to YouTube Live and monitor it. YouTube may interrupt even licensed music if the rights holder has not allowlisted your channel through Content ID.
What you need before you start
- A YouTube channel that is eligible to livestream. YouTube says the channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days; streamers must be at least 16. Initial activation can take time, so check YouTube Studio before planning a launch. See YouTube’s live-streaming setup guidance.
- A playlist of recordings you are authorized to use for continuous YouTube livestreaming, with suitable visuals.
- An encoder that can send a continuous feed to YouTube Live, such as OBS, plus a reliable internet connection if you run the encoder locally.
- A plan for monitoring, interruptions, and recordings. A 24-hour live feed is not necessarily saved as one complete YouTube replay.
Clear the music rights before building the playlist
Check every track individually. Keep a record of its title, performer, recording owner or label, composer, lyricist or publisher where relevant, intended use, and territories. Obtain written permission that covers continuous YouTube livestreaming and your visual presentation. Keep the permission and any terms for attribution, monetization, territory, duration, and Content ID with your channel records.
There can be separate rights in the sound recording and in the musical and literary works embodied in it. The Indian Performing Right Society (IPRS) describes licensing works in its repertoire and notes that it represents only the relevant member rights. PPL India says it does not issue digital-platform sound-recording licenses and directs users to individual labels. Neither point establishes that one license covers every recording or every right. The exact permissions needed depend on the recording, the underlying work, the rightsholders, and the territories where the stream is available. If you are unsure, ask the relevant rightsholder or a qualified Indian copyright professional; this guide is not a legal determination that any track is cleared.
Rights clearance also does not guarantee an uninterrupted broadcast. YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches. It may replace a stream with a placeholder and warn the creator; continued use can interrupt or terminate the stream. For licensed third-party content, YouTube advises asking the owner to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Get confirmation and keep it with your license documents. Prepare a playlist that can run continuously
Assemble the audio
Use only recordings for which you have confirmed the required permissions. Arrange them in the intended order and check that the playlist returns to the beginning when it ends. Test the transition from the last track to the first; a playlist that stops at the end is not a 24/7 feed. Keep written rights details associated with each track so you can respond to a claim or rights notice.
Choose the visual presentation
Prepare the visual feed that will accompany the audio, and make sure you have rights to any images, video, or other material in it as well. Check the combined audio and visuals in a test stream: representative motion and sound matter when assessing how the broadcast reaches viewers. Do not assume permission for a song automatically covers the artwork or video shown with it.
Do not confuse a playlist with a livestream
A regular YouTube playlist is not itself a live channel. You need an encoder or a compatible cloud playout service that sends the repeating audio-and-visual feed to YouTube Live. YouTube lists encoder streaming as a supported live method; see its live-stream setup page.

Run the stream from a local computer with OBS
With local playout, OBS sends the stream from your computer to YouTube. The computer, power, internet connection, playlist, and monitoring all need to remain available for the broadcast to continue. OBS is free and open source, but that does not solve music rights or guarantee uptime. Its Help Portal describes the local streaming workflow and connection troubleshooting.

In YouTube Studio, check the live controls and complete any channel verification or live-stream activation required before launch. Allow time for initial activation.
- Create the livestream in YouTube Studio. Set up the broadcast and use the stream details YouTube provides to connect your encoder. Keep the stream key private; anyone with access to it may be able to send a feed to your channel.
- Configure OBS to send the prepared feed. Set the destination and stream details from YouTube Studio, then add the visual and audio playlist. Build and test the repeat behavior so it continues after the final item rather than ending the broadcast. OBS’s official help page is the place to check current encoder controls and troubleshooting steps.
- Choose settings your connection can sustain. Use YouTube’s current encoder settings guide for supported protocols, video and audio encoding details, and recommended bitrate ranges. Run an upload-speed test and choose settings for reliable capacity, not a best-case speed. The exact resolution, frame rate, and bitrate should match your source material and connection; the official guide provides the relevant format-specific values.
- Test before making the channel public. Send a test using representative audio and motion. Confirm that picture and sound arrive correctly in YouTube Studio and check stream-health messages before the public launch.
- Monitor and recover. Assign someone to watch stream health and respond to connection failures or rights notices. Plan what to do if OBS stops, the computer or power fails, the internet drops, or the playlist ends or fails to loop. OBS says dropped frames and a yellow or red connection indicator can signal an unstable connection or a bitrate the connection cannot sustain; check the connection and reduce demands as needed.
YouTube recommends monitoring stream health and testing representative content. Its encoder guide is the authoritative reference for current technical requirements; do not treat a bitrate or resolution as universally reliable for every connection.
Plan for archives separately from the live broadcast
YouTube says livestreams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, but a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. It recommends keeping a local archive backup. That means a 24/7 channel should not promise one complete 24-hour replay just because the stream was live. If a full recording matters, plan local recording and sufficient storage, then test that workflow before launch. See YouTube’s archive guidance.

Monetization is a separate eligibility and policy review, not an automatic result of running a long stream. YouTube’s Partner Program page lists one route of 1,000 subscribers plus 4,000 qualified public watch hours in the previous 12 months, or an alternative route of 1,000 subscribers plus 10 million qualified Shorts views in the previous 90 days. The page also lists policy, account, and regional requirements and says channels are reviewed. Meeting a threshold does not guarantee acceptance or income. Check the current YouTube Partner Program requirements, particularly if your programming repeats or makes minimal changes to existing material.

Troubleshoot the problems most likely to stop the channel
YouTube will not let the channel go live
Check whether the channel is verified, whether live streaming has been activated, and whether a restriction applies. YouTube says activation can take time and refers to restrictions in the preceding 90 days, so resolve eligibility before building a launch around an immediate start. The current requirements are on YouTube’s live setup page.
The stream is interrupted or replaced by a placeholder
A third-party match can trigger a warning or interruption even when you believe the use is licensed. Recheck the track against your written permissions and ask the relevant rights holder to allowlist the channel through Content ID. If rights are unclear, stop using the disputed material while you resolve them. See YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams.
OBS reports dropped frames or an unstable connection
OBS identifies dropped frames and a yellow or red connection indicator as possible signs that the connection is unstable or cannot sustain the selected bitrate. Check the internet connection, run an upload-speed test, and choose a less demanding setting within YouTube’s current recommendations. Test again with representative content and watch YouTube’s stream-health messages. References: OBS Help and YouTube encoder settings.

The playlist ends or the whole broadcast stops
Test the transition from the end of the playlist to its beginning before launch. For a local stream, also plan for computer, power, and internet failures, and assign someone to respond. If using a cloud provider, verify its YouTube Live compatibility, playlist repeat behavior, recovery process, archive options, pricing, and terms before relying on it.
The full 24-hour stream is missing from the archive
YouTube warns that streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. If a complete recording is required, record locally and confirm that the recording and storage workflow works; do not depend on the automatic YouTube archive for a single complete 24-hour file.
