Yes—but Google Drive stores the video; it does not send that file directly to YouTube as a live broadcast. To make a 24/7 stream, an encoder must retrieve and play the Drive video, loop it, and send the resulting live feed to YouTube. YouTube’s documentation describes this encoder-based workflow, not a native Drive-to-YouTube connection.
How Drive video becomes a YouTube live stream
- Store and access the file. Keep the video in Google Drive and confirm that the computer or application running the stream can download it. Google Drive supports downloading binary files through authorized API access; browser downloads are also available when your account has permission. A sharing link is not automatically a playable input for every encoder.
- Play and loop it through an encoder. Use a media-player and encoder workflow that can play the file continuously. Depending on your setup, you might download the file to the encoder machine first or retrieve it through an authenticated application. YouTube does not certify a particular Drive-link playback or looping tool for this use.
- Send the encoder output to YouTube. In YouTube’s live setup, obtain the ingest endpoint and stream key, then enter them in the encoder. YouTube recommends RTMPS for ordinary streaming. The Drive file itself, or its sharing URL, is not the live feed.
- Preview, test and monitor. Check the Live Control Room preview and stream health before relying on the broadcast. Monitor both picture and sound, and confirm that the file loops as intended.
YouTube’s API documentation uses a channel broadcasting a 24/7 live feed as an example of its broadcast model. That describes a supported use case, not a guarantee that a particular file, device, connection or channel will stay live without interruption. YouTube Live Streaming API: broadcasts and streams
Encoder settings and connection capacity
Use the current YouTube encoder settings, bitrates and resolutions guidance for the target resolution. Its standard encoder guidance lists RTMP/RTMPS and H.264, H.265 or AV1 video, with AAC or MP3 audio; use constant bitrate (CBR), up to 60 fps, and a recommended two-second keyframe interval (no more than four seconds). Bitrate recommendations depend on resolution, so consult the current table rather than choosing a figure that may not fit your output.
Plan upload bandwidth for the full stream bitrate plus headroom. YouTube recommends 20% extra upload capacity and warns that network disruption can affect a live stream. Its network troubleshooting guidance covers the connection side; encoder stability and an operator’s ability to notice a failure matter too.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
What can interrupt a 24/7 setup
- Drive access changes: A file moved, deleted or made unavailable—or credentials that expire—can prevent the encoder from fetching or continuing to read it. Confirm permissions and authentication for the account or application actually running the stream.
- Local machine stops: If the encoder runs on a computer, sleep, restart, power loss or an encoder crash can stop playback or transmission. Configure the machine for continuous operation and decide how you will detect and restart a failed process.
- Network or ingest failure: A home or hosting connection outage can break the feed. Leave the recommended bandwidth margin and monitor YouTube’s stream health.
- Loop or media incompatibility: The chosen player may not loop cleanly, or may fail to read the file or its Drive URL. Test the actual file, account permissions, authentication and loop behavior before launching.
These are practical consequences of relying on file access, playback, an encoder and a network; no particular setup is guaranteed to recover automatically. YouTube’s encoder guidance recommends testing and monitoring rather than assuming the stream is self-maintaining.
Channel eligibility and content rights
YouTube Help says: “To live stream, you must have no live streaming restrictions in the past 90 days and have a verified channel.” Check your channel’s eligibility before configuring an all-day broadcast. You also need the rights to stream the video and its audio; storing a recording in Drive does not grant permission to broadcast it. Review YouTube’s live encoder guidance and applicable copyright rules for your content.
