Can a 24/7 YouTube Livestream Make Money With Copyright-Safe Music?

Yes, but neither a 24/7 schedule nor copyright-safe background music guarantees income. A channel must qualify for YouTube’s monetization features, enable them, and have the necessary rights for the music in a continuous, potentially monetized live broadcast. YouTube may serve ads, but it does not guarantee that an ad slot will run. There is no defensible earnings estimate here for a continuous music stream.

Where livestream revenue can come from

YouTube says eligible live streams may earn through live-stream ads, Super Chat and Super Stickers, and channel memberships. Which features are available depends on the channel meeting the applicable eligibility requirements and enabling the features. For Watch Page ads and YouTube Premium revenue on live streams, creators must accept the Watch Page Monetization Module. When turning on ads, creators also confirm that they have rights to the stream’s audio and visual elements. See YouTube’s live-stream monetization guidance and its explanation of monetization options.

Ads are possible, not promised

Live ad formats can include pre-roll, display, and mid-roll ads. Mid-rolls may be placed automatically or manually, but YouTube says ad slots are not guaranteed to serve. A stream running all day therefore does not mean that ads will run continuously—or that watch time will translate into a predictable payout.

There is no reliable universal earnings figure

The consulted YouTube guidance does not provide a usable earnings estimate for a 24/7 music livestream. Do not treat general channel RPM figures or the stream’s duration as a forecast: actual revenue depends on channel eligibility, audience, ad delivery, and other factors that the available evidence does not quantify for this format.

What “copyright-safe” needs to mean

For this use, a track is safe only if you have the rights needed for the actual broadcast—not simply because it is labelled “copyright-free,” included in a library, or covered by a license for some other kind of video. YouTube’s livestream terms require the content provider to have the necessary worldwide rights for the live content, expressly including music licensing rights. Read the YouTube livestream terms and confirm that the license applies to your use.

Confirm the scope in writing

Before going live, ask the rights holder or music service to confirm in writing that the license covers:

  • The territories where your stream may be viewed.
  • An archived replay, if you intend to keep the live stream available afterward.
  • Any required channel registration or Content ID allowlisting, and how long that setup takes.

Keep the license and a record of the tracks used. If a service requires your channel to be allowlisted, complete that step before the stream starts.

A license may not prevent an interruption on its own

YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If it detects a match, it may show a placeholder and warn the streamer; if the content remains, YouTube may temporarily interrupt or terminate the stream. YouTube specifically warns that even licensed third-party content can cause interruptions when the channel has not been added to the rights owner’s Content ID allowlist. Its guidance also notes that an archived livestream may receive a Content ID claim after the broadcast ends. Check YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams and make sure the rights cover the replay as well as the live transmission.

Music options that do—and do not—fit live use

Do not use Creator Music tracks for the livestream

YouTube’s Creator Music usage guidance says its licensing and revenue-sharing tracks are for long-form videos, not live streams. The page describes Creator Music availability for U.S. creators in the YouTube Partner Program, with expansion outside the United States pending as stated there; availability and rules can change. In any case, that guidance does not make Creator Music tracks a solution for a live broadcast.

Compare other libraries by the rights they actually grant

The available evidence does not establish that any particular music library grants the permissions needed for your stream. When evaluating one, ask about monetized livestreams, 24-hour use, territories, allowlisting, and archived replays. A library’s general claim that its tracks are “copyright-safe” is not a substitute for answers to those specific questions.

Running the stream continuously

Copyright clearance and YouTube monetization are separate from the technical method you use to keep a stream online. Whatever setup you choose, it does not grant music rights or make a channel eligible for monetization. The evidence available here does not establish a preferred computer, broadcasting app, or technical configuration for a 24/7 music stream, so choose a method you can operate reliably and verify separately against YouTube’s current live-stream requirements.

Or let it run in the cloud

StreamNeo keeps a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. The stream runs in the cloud, so nothing needs to stay on at home. It plays uploaded video rather than broadcasting from a camera, and it streams to YouTube only.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use copyrighted music in a YouTube livestream if I have a license?

A license can cover that use, but confirm that it expressly includes monetized YouTube livestreams and complete any Content ID allowlisting the rights holder requires before you broadcast.

Does a 24/7 music livestream automatically qualify for YouTube monetization?

No. The channel must qualify for the relevant monetization features and enable them; continuous streaming by itself does not establish eligibility.
