Possibly, according to leaker KeplerL2—not Sony. In an April 15, 2025 report, Insider Gaming said KeplerL2 claimed a rumored PlayStation portable could run PS5 games, but at lower resolutions and frame rates than a PS5. Sony had not confirmed the device or the compatibility claim.
What did the leaker say about PS5 game compatibility?
Insider Gaming reported that KeplerL2 clarified the rumor in a forum post: “It can definitely run PS5 games, just not at the same resolution/FPS, mainly due to lower memory bandwidth.” That is the leaker’s claim as reported by Sam Sepiol on April 15, 2025—not an official Sony statement or a result from a tested device. Here, “run PS5 games” does not mean the portable would reproduce the PS5 experience unchanged. KeplerL2’s clarification specifically allows for lower resolution and frame rate. It does not say which games would work, whether every PS5 title would be compatible, or whether games would need patches.
How much is known about the rumored hardware?
The same report says KeplerL2 had described the purported device the previous day as using a “15w SoC on 3nm” and as less powerful than a PS5. Those are unverified leak details, not specifications confirmed by Sony. The report also attributes to KeplerL2 an estimate that performance might fall somewhere between Xbox Series S and PS5, while noting that the comparison was difficult because the GPU architecture was unreleased. It is not a measured performance result. Insider Gaming’s report
