Yes. In Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield, Vaporeon can breed with Ditto or a compatible Pokémon. With Ditto, the Egg follows Vaporeon’s evolutionary line, so it hatches into an Eevee—not a Vaporeon. The Pokémon Company International’s official Sword and Shield breeding guide states the general rules; the Vaporeon example is an application of those rules.
What can Vaporeon breed with?
For the breeding rules described in Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield, Vaporeon can be paired with either Ditto or a compatible Pokémon of the opposite sex from the same Egg Group. The official guide explains that an Egg can appear when two Pokémon of the same Egg Group are left at a Nursery, or when Ditto is paired with an eligible Pokémon outside the No Eggs Discovered group.
Vaporeon’s species-specific pairing details are not listed in that guide. The Egg follows the non-Ditto Pokémon’s evolutionary line. Because Vaporeon is an evolution of Eevee, applying that rule means a Vaporeon-and-Ditto pairing produces an Egg from the Eevee line; it does not produce a Vaporeon Egg. This is an application of the official general rule rather than an example named in the guide.
