In the base game, one female Sim can get another female Sim pregnant if their Create-a-Sim pregnancy settings are compatible. Set one Sim to Get Others Pregnant and the other to Become Pregnant, then choose Try for a Baby.
Set the pregnancy options in Create a Sim
- Open Create a Sim for both Sims. To edit an existing Sim, use Change Sim at a mirror or dresser.
- Open the three-dot gender customization menu for the Sim who will impregnate the other and select Get Others Pregnant.
- For the Sim who will carry the pregnancy, open the same menu and select Become Pregnant. Neither is also available and disables that Sim’s pregnancy capability.
- In Live Mode, select the partner and choose More Choices > Romance > Physical Intimacy > Try for a Baby.
EA’s pregnancy guide describes these capability options for young adult and adult Sims. You do not need an expansion pack or a mod for this base-game setup.

Pregnancy settings are separate from orientation
Pregnancy capability, romantic orientation, and WooHoo interests are separate settings. Changing who a Sim is romantically attracted to—or who they are interested in WooHoo with—does not by itself make them able to get another Sim pregnant or become pregnant. EA’s sexuality, romance, and attraction guide explains where these options are configured. In its 2022 feature article, EA described Gender Customization as including options for “physical frame, clothing preferences, pregnancy and toilet use.” Read EA’s explanation of Sexual Orientation in The Sims 4.
Choose Try for a Baby, not ordinary WooHoo
WooHoo and Try for a Baby are different interactions. If the goal is pregnancy, use Try for a Baby from the Romance menu rather than selecting ordinary WooHoo. EA’s WooHoo guide gives the interaction path and distinguishes the two.

- EA says young adult and adult Sims can be set to become pregnant, get others pregnant, or neither.
- Teen Sims cannot get pregnant. Elder Sims can get others pregnant but cannot become pregnant, according to EA’s current pregnancy guide.
- EA notes a special case: young adult or adult Sims can become pregnant after WooHoo with the Grim Reaper regardless of their Create-a-Sim pregnancy settings. This is an exception, not the standard mechanic for a same-sex couple.
If Try for a Baby does not work
Check that one Sim is set to Get Others Pregnant, the other to Become Pregnant, and that you chose Try for a Baby rather than WooHoo. EA issued a pregnancy fix on July 16, 2025, stating that behavior would work as it had before the July 1, 2025 base-game patch. If you use mods and still encounter a problem, EA advised checking with the mod creators for updates. EA’s July 16, 2025 pregnancy-fix note is available in French localization.
