If the phone feed ultimately goes to OBS on the home PC, that PC still has to stay on.
What has to stay online?
Think of the setup as two jobs: IRL Pro on an Android phone sends the source video, and an encoder publishes the finished stream to YouTube. With a hosted Cloud OBS setup, the hosted encoder does the publishing instead of the creator’s computer. Enhanced IRL’s streaming guide distinguishes a home-OBS workflow from Cloud OBS; its YouTube output instructions describe starting the hosted output from the service dashboard.
The phone and hosted service still need to be online. Turning off the PC is safe only when it is not being used as the encoder, relay receiver, or another essential part of the chain.
Which setup lets you turn off the PC?

A relay is not automatically an always-on streaming solution: verify that the service can publish to YouTube, not just receive or relay an incoming feed.

How to set up IRL Pro with hosted Cloud OBS
- Check the hosted service’s role. Confirm it provides an always-on Cloud OBS or equivalent encoder and YouTube output. An ingest relay alone does not replace OBS on your PC.
- Configure the phone input. In IRL Pro on Android, enter the hosted service’s input or publish URL and credentials. Use a protocol the service accepts. Enhanced IRL’s IRL Pro documentation says the app supports RTMP and SRT and broadcasts over a single connection, without bonding.
- Set YouTube as the hosted output. In the hosted service dashboard, select YouTube and enter the platform URL and broadcast key from YouTube’s Live Control Room. Keep this output key distinct from any optional input key used for the phone-to-service connection; the Cloud OBS output instructions distinguish the two.
- Start the hosted stream and verify it. Start Cloud OBS from the service dashboard, then check the YouTube Live Control Room preview and live state. Whether YouTube also requires a start action depends on the encoder stream configuration; follow the prompts shown for your broadcast.
- Test before relying on it. Run the whole phone-to-host-to-YouTube chain and confirm the broadcast remains live. YouTube cautions that network disruptions can break a stream, so keep adequate upload capacity at the phone’s location and for any other connection carrying the stream.
YouTube requirements and connection checks
Make sure the channel is eligible
YouTube says a channel must be verified and have no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days to livestream. Check YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance before configuring the encoder.
Keep enough upload headroom
YouTube recommends upload bandwidth with 20% headroom beyond the total stream bitrate. This is operational guidance, not a guarantee that a connection will be stable; mobile coverage and other network interruptions can still disrupt the feed. See YouTube’s streaming tips.

Use the correct YouTube stream details
YouTube’s encoder workflow uses a stream URL and key. Retrieve them in Live Control Room and enter them as the hosted service’s YouTube output, rather than substituting the separate input credentials IRL Pro may use to reach that service. See YouTube’s encoder setup instructions.
Common problems and fixes
- The stream stops when the PC shuts down: OBS on the home computer may still be publishing the broadcast, or the hosted service may only be relaying the phone feed. Identify which component sends the final output to YouTube; it must remain online.
- The hosted service receives video, but YouTube is not live: Receiving the phone feed is not the same as publishing it. Check that YouTube is configured as an output, the platform URL and broadcast key are correct, and Cloud OBS has been started in the dashboard.
- The phone cannot connect to the hosted input: Check the input URL or credentials and confirm that both ends support the selected protocol, such as RTMP or SRT.
- YouTube shows no preview or rejects the output: Recheck the YouTube stream URL and key in Live Control Room. Keep the output key separate from any IRL Pro input key, then follow the encoder-specific start prompts.
- The broadcast drops or becomes unstable: Check the phone’s uplink and any other network link in the chain. Leave YouTube’s recommended 20% upload-bandwidth headroom above total stream bitrate and test from the location where you intend to stream.
