A report surfaced by a Reddit discussion of Digital Foundry coverage describes The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered’s camera becoming problematic during longer play sessions, followed by a crash when loading a save. That report does not establish how widespread the issue is, what causes it, or whether every player is affected. Bethesda’s published updates document several other camera and crash fixes, but the reviewed notes do not confirm a fix for this specific long-session problem.
What is the reported problem?
The reported sequence is that a camera issue worsens the longer someone plays and the game then crashes while loading a save. The source available here is a Reddit discussion surfacing the Digital Foundry headline, not the original Digital Foundry report. It therefore supports describing the issue as a report, not as a verified diagnosis or a problem known to affect all players.
Player discussion includes theories about possible causes, but none is confirmed by the sources reviewed. There is also no verified count of affected players or published crash rate.
What do Bethesda’s updates actually fix?
Bethesda’s notes list several camera and crash fixes, but they describe specific scenarios. They do not establish that the long-session camera problem followed by a save-loading crash was addressed.

| Update or support entry | Documented issue | What it does—and does not—show |
|---|---|---|
| Update 1.1, June 11, 2025 | A first-person camera positioned too high, and a crash when loading a save in Quill-Weave’s house. | These are fixes for named behaviors and a specific location; the notes do not identify the reported long-session camera/save-loading sequence. |
| Update 1.2, July 16, 2025 | A crash at the end of “Through a Nightmare, Darkly” and slow camera movement when starting NPC dialogue, among other listed fixes. | Bethesda’s note says, “Fixed slow camera movement when initiating NPC dialogue.” That is a specific dialogue-related camera fix, not confirmation about the long-session report. |
| Bethesda Support: crashes involving paralyzing effects | Several crashes associated with paralyzing effects. | Bethesda Support says Update 1.2 resolved several such crashes. The entry concerns paralyzing effects, not the reported camera issue. |
Is the reported crash fixed in the current version?
The available official notes establish that Bethesda fixed the separate behaviors above in Updates 1.1 and 1.2. They do not say whether the long-session camera/save-loading issue remains reproducible in the current build, or whether a later update fixed it. On this evidence, it would be inaccurate to call the exact reported issue either definitively fixed or definitively ongoing.
To assess a crash report, keep its context distinct: note whether it follows a long session, occurs in a named quest or location, starts during NPC dialogue, or involves a paralyzing effect. Record the platform and game build as well. Those details help distinguish a similar-sounding but separately documented problem; the sources here do not establish a proven workaround for the reported long-session crash.

Is a missing manual save the same issue?
No connection between the two symptoms is established. Bethesda Support has a separate entry for a manual-save problem in which the game indicates that saving succeeded, but the file is absent when the player tries to load it. That is a missing-save symptom, not the reported crash while loading a save, unless evidence links them.
See Bethesda’s manual-save support entry for that separate case.
