If you mean personal information entered elsewhere on Steam, the profile privacy controls do not establish who can see every such field. You can limit access to profile details and activity, but those settings do not make your Steam identity anonymous.
What does Steam show other people?
Steam’s profile name is the community identity shown around the service. Steam Support says it can appear in multiplayer games, chat rooms, leaderboards, discussion forums, and beside reviews or other published content. Its guidance is explicit: “No, because avatar and profile name represent you throughout Steam, they cannot be hidden.” Steam Support: Community Avatars & Profile Names
That does not establish that your profile name is your legal name, or explain the visibility of every personal or account detail you may have entered elsewhere. Steam’s profile privacy controls concern profile components and activity; do not assume they conceal information outside the community profile.

How to change who can view your profile
- Open your Steam profile and select Edit Profile.
- Open Privacy Settings.
- Choose Public, Friends Only, or Private. Adjust additional profile subcategories if needed.
Steam says these changes save automatically. The setting controls the audience for profile information, not whether your current profile name exists publicly. See Steam Profile Privacy.

How to remove previous profile names
Steam stores the previous 10 profile names used on an account. On your profile, open the dropdown beside your current persona name and choose clear previous aliases. This clears the visible alias history, not the current name. Steam also notes that other sites may scrape public profile names and keep records, so clearing aliases on Steam cannot remove copies elsewhere. Steam Support: Community Avatars & Profile Names
How to appear offline without hiding your name
In the Friends & Chat presence controls, choose Invisible to appear offline while continuing to use chat and community features. This changes online presence, not profile-name visibility. Steam Friends & Chat

What to do if you are concerned about identifying information
Do not post your legal name, address, phone number, or other identifying details in a Steam profile or conversation if you do not want them shared. Steam Support warns: “Never post personally identifiable information on Steam, even in private chats or other areas that you might think are safe.” A private conversation is not a guarantee that another person will keep its contents private.
