Yes. ASUS says the ROG Bulwark Dock DG310 can deliver up to 80W of charging power to a compatible ROG Xbox Ally while the handheld is connected to a TV and USB peripherals. That means you can play docked without giving up charging, provided the dock is connected to a suitable USB-C Power Delivery charger. The charger is not included, and ASUS recommends a 100W-or-higher USB-C PD charger to reach the dock’s full rated output.
What the DG310 charging claim actually means
The DG310 is designed to carry power, display output and accessories through one USB-C connection to the handheld. Power enters the dock through its USB-C input, then the dock can pass up to 80W to a compatible ROG Xbox Ally while HDMI, USB and Ethernet devices remain connected.

ASUS’s official DG310 FAQ, updated September 14, 2026, specifically describes simultaneous charging while the device is connected to a display and peripherals. This is the relevant answer for docked gaming: the Ally does not have to stop using the dock’s ports in order to receive power.

The 80W figure is a maximum rated output, not a promise that every game will add charge to the battery at the same rate. A demanding game, a high-performance mode, a low battery, display output and attached USB devices can all affect the handheld’s actual power draw. ASUS’s documentation confirms the capability and rating, but it does not publish independent measurements for every game, battery level or thermal condition.

What charger you need
Use a 100W-or-higher USB-C PD charger
To obtain the DG310’s maximum 80W charging output, ASUS recommends a USB-C Power Delivery charger rated at 100W or higher. The dock’s power input is specified for up to 100W. A lower-rated adapter may still power the setup, but the dock cannot be expected to provide its full rated output under all conditions.
Look for a charger that explicitly supports USB-C Power Delivery and lists a 100W-or-higher output rating. The number printed on a USB-A adapter, a phone charger or a multi-port brick’s total output is not enough by itself; the USB-C port feeding the dock must be capable of the required PD profile.
The charger is sold separately
The DG310 does not include a wall charger. You must provide the USB-C PD adapter and connect it to the dock’s dedicated USB-C power input. This is the most important extra purchase to account for when planning a docked Xbox Ally setup.

Is it compatible with your Xbox Ally?
Supported ROG Xbox Ally models
The built-in stand is shaped for the ROG Xbox Ally (2025), ROG Xbox Ally X (2025) and ROG Xbox Ally X20 (2026). Those are the models ASUS identifies for the dock’s physical fit.
USB-C requirements
ASUS says the dock works with devices that support both USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode and USB Power Delivery. The Ally must therefore be able to send video over USB-C and accept charging over the same connection. A USB-C port that supports charging but not DisplayPort Alt Mode will not provide the complete docked experience.
Other USB-C handhelds may be electrically compatible if they meet those two standards, but the stand’s shape and clearance are specifically described for the Xbox Ally family. A device that does not sit securely in the cradle may need a different stand or a separate support arrangement.

How to connect the DG310 for gaming
- Place the handheld in the stand. Use the position intended for your ROG Xbox Ally model so the USB-C connection is not under side pressure.
- Connect the power adapter to the dock. Plug the 100W-or-higher USB-C PD charger into the DG310’s USB-C power input. The dock receives power through this port; it does not generate charging power on its own.
- Connect the display. Run an HDMI cable from the dock’s HDMI 2.1 output to the TV or monitor. Select the corresponding input on the display.
- Attach accessories. Connect a keyboard, mouse, controller receiver, storage device or other USB equipment to the three USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports. Connect a wired network cable to the Gigabit Ethernet port if you want a wired connection.
- Connect the Ally to the dock. Use the dock’s USB-C connection to the handheld’s USB-C port. The connection must carry DisplayPort Alt Mode and USB Power Delivery for video and charging to work together.
- Start the game and check the battery status. Once the display and peripherals are active, verify in the Ally’s operating system that external power is detected. If the battery percentage still falls during a particularly demanding session, that reflects the workload’s draw rather than proof that the dock has stopped supplying power.
Will it keep charging in Turbo mode?
The documented answer is qualified. ASUS confirms up to 80W of charging while the compatible Ally is connected to a display and peripherals, but the DG310 FAQ and press material do not publish a separate Turbo-mode test or a guaranteed battery-gain figure for every Turbo workload.
Recommended Free Tools
Turbo mode can raise the handheld’s power demand. If the game and system consume more power than the handheld receives at a given moment, the battery may charge slowly, hold its level or decline despite the dock remaining connected and powered. The manufacturer’s 80W rating establishes the dock’s available output ceiling; it does not establish a universal net increase for every title, frame-rate target, screen setting or battery temperature.
For the best chance of maintaining charge during high-load play, use the recommended 100W-or-higher PD adapter, avoid sharing that adapter’s capacity with unrelated devices, and make sure the USB-C plug is fully seated. Treat the battery percentage during a specific Turbo session as an observation of that setup, not as a contradiction of the dock’s rated capability.

What else is included in the 6-in-1 dock?
Charging is only one part of the DG310. Its six connections are intended to turn the handheld into a TV, monitor or desk setup without a separate hub.
| Connection or capability | DG310 specification | Practical use |
|---|---|---|
| HDMI output | One HDMI 2.1 output; up to 3840×2160 at 144Hz or 7680×4320 at 30Hz | Connect a high-refresh 4K gaming display or an 8K display at the stated refresh limit |
| Display features | HDR, variable refresh rate and auto low-latency mode support | Use compatible TV or monitor features for expanded dynamic range, smoother timing and automatic low-latency switching |
| USB-A ports | Three USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports | Attach controllers, keyboards, mice, storage and other USB accessories |
| Network | One Gigabit Ethernet port | Use a wired network connection when Wi-Fi is inconvenient or congested |
| Power input | One USB-C input, specified up to 100W | Feed the dock from a USB-C PD charger |
| Charging output | Up to 80W to the compatible handheld | Charge while the Ally is connected to the display and peripherals |
| Physical support | Built-in stand shaped for ROG Xbox Ally (2025), ROG Xbox Ally X (2025) and ROG Xbox Ally X20 (2026) | Hold the named Ally models in a docked position |
The HDMI figures are maximum supported modes. Whether a particular game reaches 4K at 144Hz, or whether a display accepts 8K at 30Hz, depends on the handheld, game, display and cable configuration. The dock’s support for HDR, VRR and ALLM means those signals can be carried when the connected hardware and software also support them.
What happens if the Ally is not gaining battery percentage?
A falling battery percentage does not automatically mean the dock is incompatible. Work through the power path in order:

- Check the adapter rating. Confirm that the charger connected to the dock is USB-C PD and rated at least 100W. A lower-rated adapter is the first thing to replace when the goal is maximum output.
- Check the connection at the dock. The charger belongs in the DG310’s USB-C power input, not in a USB-A accessory port. Reseat the plug at both ends.
- Check the handheld connection. Disconnect and reconnect the dock-to-Ally USB-C cable, ensuring it is fully inserted and not being pulled sideways by the stand.
- Reduce competing load temporarily. Unplug USB storage or other bus-powered accessories and test again. This isolates whether the accessory mix is contributing to the observed behavior.
- Test outside the most demanding workload. Check the battery while idle or in a lighter game. If charging resumes there, the original session may simply have been drawing heavily enough to limit the net battery increase.
- Verify display settings. If the display is running a high-resolution, high-refresh mode with HDR or other features enabled, test a lower mode briefly. This is a troubleshooting comparison, not a claim that the dock cannot support the advertised HDMI modes.
If the Ally never detects external power with a known-good 100W-or-higher PD charger and a secure USB-C connection, the remaining possibilities include a cable, charger, dock or handheld fault. ASUS’s published rating cannot identify which component is defective; substitution testing or manufacturer support is needed at that point.
Important limits of the 80W number
“Up to 80W” describes the dock’s rated maximum output under the manufacturer’s stated setup. It should not be read as a guaranteed 80W measurement at every instant. USB-C Power Delivery negotiates power between the charger, dock and handheld, and the handheld’s own charging controls determine how much it accepts.
The available documentation also does not establish a universal charging time, a guaranteed percentage increase per hour, or a promise that the battery will rise during every game. Those outcomes vary with game load, performance mode, screen output, USB accessories, battery state and thermal conditions. The safe conclusion is narrower and useful: the DG310 is specified to charge a compatible ROG Xbox Ally while docked, with up to 80W available when powered by the recommended class of adapter.

- Choose it for a TV or monitor setup if you want one dock to combine charging, HDMI 2.1, wired networking and three USB-A ports.
- Budget for a separate charger because the dock does not ship with one. A 100W-or-higher USB-C PD adapter is the appropriate target for its full rated output.
- Confirm your model before buying. The stand is specifically shaped for the 2025 ROG Xbox Ally, 2025 ROG Xbox Ally X and 2026 ROG Xbox Ally X20.
- Set expectations for demanding modes. The dock can supply power while gaming, but manufacturer documentation does not guarantee a net battery increase in every Turbo-mode workload.
For the question “Can the ROG Bulwark Dock charge my Xbox Ally while I play?”, the answer is yes when the Ally is compatible, the dock is fed by an appropriate USB-C PD charger and the connection is correctly established. The practical headline is 80W maximum dock output, a separately purchased 100W-or-higher charger for full output, and simultaneous use of the dock’s display and peripheral ports.
