Yes—viewers can gift channel memberships in the live chat of an eligible YouTube livestream, and YouTube’s guidance does not make a separate exception for broadcasts that run 24/7. That is based on YouTube’s general live-stream gifting rules, not an explicit guarantee for every continuous stream. The channel must have gifting available, and the Membership gifting control must be accessible in chat.
How gifting works during a livestream
On an eligible live stream or Premiere, a viewer can open Membership gifting in live chat, choose how many memberships to give, and complete the purchase. YouTube may display a countdown ticker highlighting the purchase for a limited time. The gifts are distributed even if the stream or chat ends before the announcement appears.
YouTube’s official guidance covers live streams generally and does not specify a maximum broadcast duration or a distinct 24/7-stream guarantee. So the practical answer is yes, subject to the same channel and chat conditions as other eligible live streams.
What the channel and recipients need
The channel must have gifting available
Viewers can purchase gifts only on a channel where gift memberships are turned on and available. If the Membership gifting option is absent from chat, the viewer may not be able to gift memberships in that stream.

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Recipients must be eligible
Viewers who want to receive a gift must opt in to gift memberships and subscribe to the channel. YouTube says opted-in viewers are eligible on channels they subscribe to and have interacted with recently. The buyer does not choose a particular recipient.
A gift is temporary, not a recurring subscription
A gifted membership provides up to one month of access to that channel’s membership perks and does not renew into a paid membership. Perks vary by creator and may include badges, emoji, members-only videos, or members-only livestreams. See YouTube’s membership benefits guidance.

What creators should know
YouTube also describes promotional gift memberships for some channels that have a membership tier below $5. These are offered by YouTube, do not charge the creator or viewer, and do not earn revenue. They are gifted from live chat in sets of five; availability is limited, and YouTube says they are not currently available for brand accounts. Promotional gifts are separate from ordinary viewer-purchased gifts. Details are in YouTube’s creator guidance on promoting memberships.
If the gifting option is missing
- Check that you are watching a live stream or Premiere. The cited instructions cover those formats; they do not establish gifting availability on an ordinary replay.
- Check whether the channel has gift memberships enabled and available. The option depends on channel availability.
- For recipients, opt in and subscribe to the channel. Recent interaction with the channel is also part of YouTube’s stated eligibility description.
- If the stream ends before the gift announcement, wait. YouTube says distribution still happens when the stream or chat ends first.
For the viewer steps, see YouTube’s computer instructions for gifting channel memberships.
