You can’t use an approved Roblox setting to bypass voice moderation. Roblox filters and moderates communication, and attempts to evade those safeguards—including coded language or tools meant to defeat them—aren’t legitimate alternatives. If you want to use voice normally, check your eligibility and enable it in a supported experience. Eligible users can also use Roblox’s official voice-with-friends and reduced-filter texting features, while still following the Community Standards.
What Roblox voice moderation does
Roblox says filtered chat is the default for eligible communication and is designed to block inappropriate content, personal information, and instructions to move conversations off-platform. Its Terms of Use, effective May 19, 2026, describe voice moderation as using automatic speech recognition to convert speech to text, followed by an in-house AI model that classifies and detects violating language in real time. Roblox says enforcement may include a nudge, temporary suspension, or ban. These are Roblox’s descriptions of its systems, not independent measurements of their accuracy.
Roblox’s developer guidance also prohibits designing experiences to get around restrictions on chat, direct messages, or voice. A game or developer-created feature that claims to provide a moderation bypass is not an approved way to use Roblox communication.
How to enable voice chat the regular way
Roblox Support says voice chat is for users who are at least 13, have completed an age check, are in a supported region, and are using an experience that supports voice. “Voice Chat is not enabled by default,” Roblox Support explains.

- Each gift card grants a free virtual item upon redemption.
- Complete an age check. Roblox’s current guidance lists ID verification or facial age estimation. Phone verification is not a valid method for enabling voice chat under the current guidance.
- Check availability. Confirm voice chat is available for your account and region, then join an experience that supports voice.
- Turn voice on in the experience. Use the experience settings or its voice/headphone control, as available. If voice is unavailable, check Roblox’s current voice chat setup guidance.
- Control your microphone. Use the in-experience mute or disconnect controls, or your device’s microphone controls, when you want to stop transmitting.
Official ways to have a less-filtered conversation with friends
Roblox offers eligible users a voice-chat-with-friends and reduced-filter texting feature. This is a limited, official feature—not permission to ignore moderation or Community Standards. It is restricted to age-checked trusted friends; users under 13 cannot use it. Availability depends on age checks and connection status. Roblox says adult-to-teen trusted connections require real-life methods such as phone contacts or scanning a live QR code, and it continues monitoring these chats.
Roblox Support states: “Even when chatting with fewer filters, you must still follow the Roblox Community Standards.” It also advises against sharing sensitive personal information, including home addresses, phone numbers, or financial details. Do not use this feature—or move a conversation elsewhere—to evade Roblox’s safeguards.

If Roblox moderated your voice chat
If you believe a moderation action was mistaken, use Roblox Support and its official reporting or appeal routes rather than trying to avoid enforcement. Review the notice on your account, follow the route provided there, and include the relevant details when contacting support. Roblox’s Terms of Use describe voice moderation and possible enforcement outcomes.
For current eligibility and feature availability, check Roblox’s voice chat help page and voice chat with friends guidance. Requirements and availability can vary by region and account.
