When is it safest to change factions?
The safest supported time is the off-season, between Faction Wars. In Ubisoft’s April 26, 2017 article about the end of Season One, editor Mikel Reparaz described the off-season as “a chance to switch your allegiance to a new faction.” That is historical guidance, not a complete statement of today’s rules, but it supports waiting until the off-season if you want to avoid risking faction-war rewards.

Ubisoft says Faction War rewards vary according to faction ranking. The official material available here does not specify the current penalty for switching during an active season, or whether a change affects campaign or round rewards, event orders, or season rewards. Before committing, read the confirmation warning shown by your game client; do not assume that an old rule or community post describes the current outcome.
How do you change your faction?
Look in the game’s Profile area for faction selection. Search results and a community reference point to a Profile/Faction route, but Ubisoft’s current official pages do not confirm the exact menu names or button sequence. Treat that as a navigation cue, not a guaranteed current path, and follow the in-game confirmation prompt to review any stated consequences before you accept.

What happens if you use cross-progression?
Cross-progression account linking is different from changing factions on an otherwise unchanged account. Ubisoft’s Cross-Progression FAQ, published September 4, 2025, says that if linked accounts had different faction choices, the faction retained is the one on the account that accepted the cross-progression prompt. If you are linking accounts, make sure you understand which account is accepting that prompt before proceeding.
Does your faction choice lock you to certain heroes?
Faction choice concerns your allegiance in the Faction War. The official sources covered here do not establish current hero-availability rules by faction, so they are not a basis for claiming that changing factions grants or removes access to particular heroes. Check the game’s current hero roster and any relevant in-game notice for that question.

What current-season timing can be confirmed?
Ubisoft’s current For Honor news listing places the Year 10 Season 3 launch on September 10, 2026. That listing does not establish the campaign phase on October 8, 2026, or the reward effect of a faction change at that point. Use the live game client for the current phase and the warning attached to your specific change.
