Yes, you can delete a WoW: Forever beta character through the character-selection screen, based on tester reports. Treat that deletion as permanent: Blizzard Customer Support says Game Masters have no access or tools to restore beta characters. There is no documented player reset for rewinding an existing character, and beta characters, names, and progress will be wiped rather than transferred to the November 4, 2026 launch.
What each option actually does
Delete, reset, restore, and transfer are different operations in the WoW: Forever beta. The available evidence supports only one direct character-management action: deleting a character from the beta’s character-selection flow. Blizzard has not documented a reset button, a restoration process, or a way to copy a beta character into the release version.

| Action | What is established | Practical result |
|---|---|---|
| Delete | Beta testers report that a delete command is available on the character-selection screen. | Assume the character is permanently lost because Blizzard does not provide restoration support for beta characters. |
| Reset | No Blizzard documentation describes a self-service reset that returns an existing character to level 1 or rewinds progress. | There is no documented way to restart the same character from scratch. |
| Restore | Customer Support states that Game Masters cannot interact with the beta and offers no restoration or other assistance. | A deleted character cannot be recovered through normal support. |
| Transfer to launch | Blizzard says the beta is wiped, including names and everything else, before release. | Recreate your character after launch; beta progress does not carry over. |
How to delete a WoW: Forever beta character
The control is in the character-selection flow
Reports from the WoW: Forever beta forum indicate that the delete command appears in the character-selection interface. The reports are observations from players, not a published promise that the control will remain in every beta build or region. If you see the command for the character you want to remove, the beta client is allowing that deletion.
- Open the WoW: Forever beta and reach the character-selection screen.
- Highlight the character you intend to remove.
- Use the delete command displayed by the beta interface.
- Read the confirmation text carefully before completing the action; do not proceed unless you are certain the selected character is the one you want to remove.
The evidence does not establish a recovery window, an archive, or a recycle bin. For practical purposes, deletion should be treated as irreversible even if the interface asks for a confirmation.

Why deletion is not a safe way to “start over”
If your goal is to replay the opening levels, deleting your existing character is riskier than simply creating another character. A new character leaves the original available for testing, while deletion removes the character without a supported path back. The beta’s support limitations mean you should preserve a character whenever you may still want its progress, screenshots, name, or configuration.
Can Blizzard restore a deleted beta character?
No supported restoration process is available. In a Customer Support response, Vrakthris wrote: I’m afraid Game Masters do not have access or tools to interact with Beta. There is no restoration or other assistance that we can provide.
That statement rules out the usual expectation that a Game Master can retrieve a deleted character, move it out of a stuck state, or manually roll back an error.
The limitation applies specifically to the beta environment. It is not a statement that every live-game character is permanently unrecoverable; it means that the normal support tools are not available for these beta characters. Submitting a ticket therefore should not be treated as a restoration request that will succeed.

Is there a way to reset a beta toon?
No documented player-controlled reset exists for an existing WoW: Forever beta character. The available information does not describe a button or command that changes a character back to level 1, clears its quest history, removes learned abilities, or rewinds other beta progress.
That leaves two different choices:
- Keep the character: retain its current progress and continue testing from the point it reached.
- Start a new character: create a separate test character instead of trying to erase progress from the original.
Deleting and recreating a character may look like a reset, but it is not a reset of the original. Once deletion is completed, the original has the same restoration problem described above.
What to do if the character is stuck
Maintenance may resolve some beta problems
Blizzard support guidance indicates that a stuck beta character may become usable after maintenance. That is a possibility, not a guaranteed repair schedule or a promise that the character will be rolled back. Avoid deleting the character merely because it is temporarily inaccessible if you still want to preserve it.
If the problem remains
Blizzard’s stated recommendation is to start a new character and submit a bug report. This is the supported workaround for a beta character that cannot be used, rather than asking a Game Master to move or repair it.

- Allow the relevant maintenance or restart cycle to complete, then check whether the character is accessible.
- If it is still stuck, create a new beta character so testing can continue.
- Submit a bug report that describes what happened, when it occurred, and what the character was doing immediately beforehand.
- Keep in mind that a bug report documents the defect; it does not create a restoration ticket or guarantee that the affected character will be repaired.
Can a GM move a stuck beta character?
You should not expect that service. The Customer Support statement that Game Masters have no access or tools to interact with the beta means there is no documented GM move, teleport, rollback, or repair workflow for a stuck beta character. Starting over and reporting the bug are the recommended paths.
Will a WoW: Forever beta character transfer to launch?
No. Beta characters are not copied into the November release. A Blizzard-hosted discussion answers the launch question directly: the characters exist in the beta rather than the release version, so testers must recreate them. The official stress-test notice is even more explicit: This is a complete wipe; names and everything else will be completely removed.

The dates matter
Blizzard’s product information lists the beta window as September 17 through October 21, 2026. WoW: Forever launches on November 4, 2026. The gap between those dates does not represent a transfer period. It is the interval between the end of the test and the release, after which the beta data is removed.
“Everything else” includes the things players commonly hope to preserve: character level, equipment, quests, professions, achievements earned in the test, and character names. The wipe language means you should plan as though none of those records will exist on the live realm.
Names do not carry over either
A name used in the beta is not reserved for the release version by the beta character itself. Because the stress test removes names along with the rest of the beta data, you will need to choose a name again when creating a launch character. Availability at launch will depend on the release character-creation system, not on what you used during testing.

Do not confuse ruleset transfers with beta migration
Blizzard separately describes a Hardcore ruleset mechanic: when Hardcore becomes available, a character that dies can transfer to another ruleset, including PvP. That is a live-game ruleset consequence for a dead Hardcore character. It is not a tool for moving an ordinary beta character into launch, preserving beta progress, or bypassing the complete wipe.
The distinction is important because the word “transfer” can describe two unrelated operations:
- Ruleset transfer: a live character changes destination ruleset under the Hardcore rules after death.
- Beta migration: copying a test character, name, or progress into the release game; this is not supported.
A successful Hardcore ruleset transfer therefore provides no evidence that a beta character can be exported before November 4.

Choosing between deletion and a new character
| Situation | Safer choice | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| You simply want to replay early content. | Start a new character. | The existing character remains available, while deletion has no supported recovery. |
| The character is temporarily inaccessible. | Wait through maintenance first. | Blizzard indicates that maintenance may resolve some stuck-character problems. |
| The character remains stuck after maintenance. | Start a new character and file a bug report. | This is Blizzard’s recommended beta workaround; GM restoration is unavailable. |
| You want the character to exist at launch. | Plan to recreate it after release. | The beta wipe removes characters, names, and progress. |
| You are considering deletion because support might undo it. | Do not delete unless you accept permanent loss. | Customer Support says it has no restoration tools for beta characters. |
Practical checklist before deleting
- Confirm that you selected the intended character, not another tester’s character on the same account.
- Save any screenshots, notes, keybind information, or build observations you want to keep; the beta wipe will not preserve the character data.
- Decide whether creating a second character meets your goal without sacrificing the first.
- Do not rely on a support ticket to reverse the action.
- Remember that preserving the character in beta still will not make it transferable to the November release.
The bottom line for each reader question
- Can I delete my WoW: Forever beta character? Yes, tester reports show a delete command in the character-selection flow.
- Is there a way to reset my beta toon? No documented self-service reset returns an existing character to level 1 or rewinds its progress.
- Can I restore a deleted Forever beta character? No. Blizzard says Game Masters cannot interact with beta characters and offers no restoration assistance.
- Will my beta character transfer to launch? No. The beta is completely wiped before launch, including names and other character data.
- Can a GM move my stuck beta character? No supported GM move or repair exists; wait through maintenance, then reroll and report the bug if necessary.
- Do beta names or progress carry over? No. You must recreate the character and choose a name again after release.
