Not yet, at least not through any Rockstar-confirmed setting. As of October 18, 2026, Rockstar has not published the Grand Theft Auto VI settings menu or confirmed a switch that disables sweat, skin shine, or other character-specific effects. GTA VI is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, so any exact menu path circulating before release is provisional.
When the game ships, start with Settings > Display/Graphics, then check Accessibility and Camera. Look for controls covering post-processing, motion blur, depth of field, bloom, film grain, vignette, reflections, shadows, or character and skin detail. Those are the most plausible places to reduce the look of an effect, based on settings Rockstar has documented for Grand Theft Auto V; they are not a confirmed list for GTA VI.

What Rockstar has confirmed about GTA VI graphics settings
Rockstar’s official GTA VI media page currently provides trailers, screenshots and clips, but no complete graphics-settings list and no sweat toggle. Rockstar’s extended-look material says its footage was captured entirely from in-game footage on PlayStation 5 and is dated August 27, 2026. That demonstrates how the game can render characters in recorded scenes; it does not document controls available to players.
Rockstar has announced a November 19, 2026 release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Until the retail build and its day-one patch are available, the names, locations and number of visual options remain unverified. A menu shown in a preview, leak or social-media post could belong to an unfinished build, a developer-only interface or a different platform configuration.

Why “sweat” may not be a single graphics option
Character sweat can be produced by several rendering systems at once. A material shader can add a wet sheen to skin; lighting and reflections can make that sheen more visible; post-processing can change highlights and contrast; and animation or gameplay systems can decide when the effect appears. A menu may therefore expose a broad image-quality control rather than a switch labelled “sweat.”
That distinction matters when testing the launch build. Turning off motion blur, for example, may make a moving character look sharper without changing the wet material on the skin. Lowering reflections could reduce bright highlights while leaving the underlying sweat simulation intact. A character-detail option might affect skin materials, but that is only a possibility until Rockstar documents it or the shipped game demonstrates it.
A secondary discussion attributed to Digital Foundry and reposted on Reddit has described reported GTA VI character-rendering improvements, including “sweat dynamics.” This is not an official Rockstar statement and does not establish that the effect can be disabled, reduced, or adjusted independently.

Where to look on launch day
Use the game’s own labels rather than assuming that Grand Theft Auto V’s menu is identical. Record the platform and the exact wording you see, because PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S may expose different performance or presentation controls.
- Open the pause menu and choose Settings. The final entry point could differ, but Rockstar has historically placed configuration controls there.
- Open Display or Graphics. Scan every page, including advanced or “more” submenus. Look for post-processing, motion blur, depth of field, bloom, film grain, vignette, reflections, shadows, shader quality, texture quality, particle quality, water quality, tessellation, or a general character/material-detail control.
- Open Accessibility. Check for visual-effect reduction, effect-intensity sliders, camera-shake controls, or options intended to reduce distracting presentation effects. An accessibility setting may be the only place Rockstar puts a broad visual-effects reduction.
- Open Camera. Look for depth of field, camera shake, motion-related presentation effects, or separate gameplay and cutscene controls.
- Apply one change at a time. Save the setting, return to gameplay and note exactly what changed. Changing several options together makes it impossible to identify which control affected the appearance.
- Test more than a single scene. Check ordinary gameplay, a cutscene, different weather, indoor and outdoor lighting, and situations involving exertion. A material effect may be conditional and absent in a quiet scene.
Graphics controls worth testing
The following checklist is a practical starting point, not a confirmed GTA VI menu. The effect column describes what a setting would normally influence; it does not promise that changing it will remove sweat.
| Control to look for | What it generally changes | What to verify in GTA VI |
|---|---|---|
| Post-processing or postFX | Several screen-space effects applied after the scene is rendered. | Whether skin highlights or other character effects become less prominent. |
| Motion blur | Blur associated with camera or object movement. | Whether the change affects only moving shots, not the character material. |
| Depth of field | Focus blur that separates foreground and background. | Whether it applies in gameplay, cutscenes, or both. |
| Bloom | Glow around bright pixels and highlights. | Whether bright skin highlights are reduced without removing the material. |
| Film grain or vignette | Noise or edge shading across the image. | Whether the image looks cleaner while sweat remains unchanged. |
| Reflection quality | Detail and accuracy of reflective surfaces and highlights. | Whether wet-looking highlights on characters are affected. |
| Shadow quality | Resolution and detail of cast shadows. | Whether the change alters contrast around a character rather than sweat itself. |
| Character, skin or material detail | Potentially the resolution or complexity of character surfaces. | Whether the shipped game exposes such a control and whether it affects skin effects. |
Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto V settings are precedent, not proof
Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto V support documentation says settings are changed from the Pause Menu’s Settings tab and groups options such as controls, audio, camera and display. Its PC documentation lists rendering controls including postFX, particle quality, reflection quality, shadow quality, shader quality, tessellation, texture quality and water quality.

Those documents are useful because they show the kinds of controls Rockstar has used before. They do not prove that GTA VI will use the same categories, expose the same sliders, or offer a setting for sweat. Console versions can also present a smaller or differently named set of options than PC versions, and GTA VI is announced for consoles first in the information currently available.
If there is no sweat-specific toggle
If the launch menu contains no control mentioning sweat, skin, character materials or similar effects, do not assume that a general quality change removes it. Test the broad options methodically:
- Disable or reduce post-processing, then compare a stationary close-up and a moving scene.
- Reduce reflections and compare bright outdoor lighting with a dim interior.
- Reduce shader or material detail if the option exists, checking whether character surfaces change along with the wider scene.
- Turn off bloom, film grain, vignette, motion blur and depth of field when available. These can change the perceived intensity of highlights or clarity without disabling the underlying effect.
- Check whether the game offers separate presets, such as a performance-oriented mode and a fidelity-oriented mode. Record the mode and any frame-rate target when describing the result.
Only describe an effect as “removed” if it disappears consistently in gameplay and cutscenes under several lighting and exertion conditions. If it merely becomes less noticeable, call it reduced or less visible.

How to troubleshoot conflicting results
The option changes the image but not the character
That usually means the control affects a different rendering stage. Restore the setting, test a character-detail or material option if available, and compare the same scene under identical lighting. Avoid claiming a causal link from one visual change alone.
The effect disappears in one scene and returns later
Character effects may be conditional on weather, exertion, temperature, animation state or scripted scenes. Repeat the test in multiple contexts and note whether the setting persists after restarting the game.

A patch changes the menu
Record the game version and date whenever you publish instructions. A post-launch update can rename, relocate or add visual controls, so an older path may stop matching the current build.
What to expect from the physical console edition
Rockstar’s platform FAQ lists standard and ultimate editions for the announced consoles. The physical version contains a download code rather than a game disc. That packaging detail does not indicate anything about graphics options, but buyers should ensure the code and account region are compatible before assuming that a physical box means an offline disc installation.
Practical answer for players deciding now
Before November 19, 2026, there is no Rockstar-confirmed way to disable sweat in GTA VI because Rockstar has not published a sweat control or the final settings menu. At launch, inspect Display/Graphics, Accessibility and Camera, then test post-processing, reflections, bloom, blur, depth of field and any character or material-detail controls one at a time. Treat Grand Theft Auto V’s settings as a guide to where Rockstar might place related options, not as evidence that GTA VI includes them.

If no dedicated control appears, the most accurate description may be that the game lets you reduce certain surrounding effects rather than switch off sweat itself.
