Yes—Epic says Rocket League supports Linux and Steam Deck. Its specific SteamOS instructions are for players who own the game on Steam: launch it through Steam. Epic says that route does not require third-party compatibility or environment-management software. This is not a general guide to installing the Epic Games Store version on a Linux desktop.
How to play Rocket League on SteamOS
- Check where you own the game. Epic’s instructions cover SteamOS players who own Rocket League on Steam.
- Launch it through Steam. Follow the SteamOS route in Epic’s Steam Deck and Linux support article. Epic says no third-party compatibility or environment-management software is needed for this route.
- Choose whether to use Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC). Steam prompts you to start Rocket League with or without EAC. Choose based on whether you need online matchmaking or want to use mods in supported offline contexts.
Epic’s instructions establish support, not a compatibility guarantee for every Linux distribution, hardware configuration, or future game update.
Online play, EAC, and mods
Epic made EAC required for online PC play on April 28, 2026. With EAC enabled, community mods do not run. Epic says mods can be used with EAC disabled for training, offline play, LAN matches, and replay viewing; online matchmaking requires EAC. These are Epic’s stated rules, not a report of an independently tested setup. See the April 28, 2026 announcement for the change.
Steam and Epic Games launcher choices
| Launcher | Ownership and launch path | EAC choice |
|---|---|---|
| Steam | Epic’s SteamOS instructions apply if you own Rocket League on Steam; launch through Steam. | Steam prompts you to start with or without EAC. |
| Epic Games | The cited Linux and SteamOS instructions do not provide a general Epic Games Store installation path for Linux desktop. | Epic Games launches with EAC enabled by default; Epic documents a way to launch without it. |
For the Epic launcher’s EAC options, see Epic’s Easy Anti-Cheat instructions. They describe launcher behavior, but do not establish that every Linux distribution has the same setup flow.

What Epic’s Linux support means
Epic’s support article answers yes for Steam Deck and Linux, and its April 2026 announcement says, “Steam Deck and Linux are also supported, so you can keep playing on your preferred hardware.” The detailed route it provides, however, is specifically for SteamOS users with the Steam version. Treat that as confirmation of support—not as instructions for installing a native Linux build or the Epic Games Store version on any Linux desktop.
The same support article says macOS is not currently supported. That is a separate platform limitation; it does not change the Linux and SteamOS guidance.
