Yes. In Minecraft, you can duplicate a Netherite Upgrade Smithing Template in a crafting table. Combine one template, seven diamonds and one netherrack to get two templates.
How to duplicate the template
- Open a crafting table.
- Place the Netherite Upgrade Smithing Template in the center slot.
- Put seven diamonds in the surrounding slots, leaving one slot open.
- Place one netherrack in the remaining slot, then collect the two templates.
Mojang’s Snapshot 23w04a notes give the general recipe: one template, seven diamonds and a block of the material the template is made from produce two copies. For the Netherite Upgrade template, that material block is netherrack. The official notes describe the general material rule; netherrack is identified in Minecraft community discussion quoting the recipe.
Why make a copy?
A Smithing Template is consumed when used to upgrade an item in a Smithing Table, so duplicating it lets you keep a template for another upgrade. Mojang’s Java Edition 1.20 release notes confirm that templates are consumed on use.
Where to find another Netherite Upgrade template
Netherite Upgrade templates can be found in Bastion Remnant chests. Mojang’s Bedrock Trails & Tales update notes and Snapshot 23w04a notes state that every Treasure Room Bastion Remnant contains two. Other Bastion chest availability is not stated as a guarantee, so duplication offers a predictable way to make another copy if you already have one.

Version note
Smithing Templates and their duplication recipe arrived with Minecraft 1.20’s Trails & Tales changes. These details are supported by Mojang’s Java and Bedrock release notes; if you are playing a substantially newer version, check the recipe in your current game in case a later update changed it.
