Yes—but only ordinary, non-boss Eternal Guardsmen are a documented repeatable farm. Resting at a Lantern revives all non-boss enemies, allowing you to clear a group, return to the Lantern, rest, and clear it again. The seven named Oathbound guards are different: they are quest encounters tied to seven emblems and seven Mysterious Stone Pyramids, and no cited source confirms a repeatable respawn for their quest loot. Treat each named guard as one-time progression unless your current build demonstrates otherwise.
A separate community build guide claims that an Outer Courtyard group returns after 90 seconds and pays 8–12 Catalysts per kill. That timer and payout are unverified community figures, not an official guarantee. A different 2026 guide based on PC launch-build data reports 1,200–2,700 Catalysts per Eternal Guardsman, so the two figures should not be combined as though they measured the same unit or method.

What “Eternal Guard” can mean
Players use “Eternal Guard” for two related but mechanically different targets. Ordinary Eternal Guardsmen are standard, non-boss enemies that can be cleared for Catalysts. The named Oathbound guards are seven special encounters placed across the campaign, each connected to the The Oathbound quest. Confusing those categories is the source of most incorrect farming advice.
| Target | Role | Documented reset | Primary reward |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ordinary Eternal Guardsmen | Non-boss enemies in regular areas | Resting at a Lantern revives all non-boss enemies | Catalysts |
| Named Oathbound guards | Seven quest-linked encounters | No cited source confirms a repeatable quest-loot respawn | One emblem and one Mysterious Stone Pyramid per encounter |
| Fortress Oathbound entry | Named guard represented by a corpse-loot interaction | Not documented as a normal duel or repeatable farm | Counts toward the seven-item quest set |
The practical rule is simple: farm ordinary guards for currency; complete the named encounters for quest progression.

Where the seven named Oathbound guards are
The Oathbound guides identify seven named guards, one in each of seven regions. Their locations form a checklist rather than a documented infinite loot route.
- Battlefields
- Fallen Village
- Valley of Ashes
- Caverns
- Cursed Hollow
- City of Orphans
- Fortress
The Fortress entry is notable because it is a corpse-loot interaction instead of a conventional fight. It still belongs to the seven-guard set and supplies the corresponding quest item.
What each named encounter gives you
Each named guard provides an emblem and a Mysterious Stone Pyramid. Collecting all seven pyramids produces the slab required to finish The Oathbound. The emblems and pyramids are progression items, not a documented recurring Catalyst payout.

The location guides state that the encounters are not missable. That means you can complete the checklist as you progress rather than restarting a run because a guard was overlooked. It does not establish that their emblems or pyramids respawn after collection.

Do named Oathbound guards respawn?
No available source gives a confirmed repeatable respawn rule for the seven named quest encounters. It is therefore inaccurate to promise an infinite Oathbound loot loop or to quote a guaranteed timer for those guards.
The most precise wording is: no cited source confirms repeatable respawn for named-guard quest loot. Until the current game build clearly proves otherwise, treat each emblem and Mysterious Stone Pyramid as a one-time progression reward. If you revisit a completed location and find an encounter present again, that observation may reflect a patch, a different enemy state, or an interaction that does not award the original quest item again.
Why ordinary guards can be farmed
The mechanics reference defines the Lantern as the reset point for regular enemies. Resting at a Lantern fully restores health and Nephtoglobin and revives all non-boss enemies. Because ordinary Eternal Guardsmen are non-boss enemies, the rule creates a repeatable clear-and-rest cycle.

Step-by-step Eternal Guard farming loop
- Rekindle or identify the nearest Lantern. Use a Lantern close enough to the guards that the return trip does not erase the value of the run. The Lantern you last rekindled is also the location where you respawn after death.
- Approach ordinary, non-boss Eternal Guardsmen. Confirm that the targets are regular enemies rather than one of the seven named Oathbound encounters. The repeatable rule applies to non-boss enemies.
- Clear the group. Collect the Catalysts that drop and note the time and travel distance if you are comparing routes. Do not assume every source’s Catalyst figure uses the same unit or build.
- Return to the Lantern. Take the shortest safe route. Carrying a large Catalyst balance increases the amount at risk if you die.
- Rest at the Lantern. Resting restores health and Nephtoglobin and revives all non-boss enemies.
- Repeat the clear-and-rest cycle. Bank or spend Catalysts when practical instead of carrying an unnecessarily large balance through a hazardous route.
The loop ends when the travel time, combat risk, or Catalyst gain no longer justifies another cycle. There is no evidence that resting creates additional named Oathbound quest rewards.
How much do Eternal Guards drop?
Two third-party figures circulate, and they should be kept separate because they have different provenance and apparently different units or measurement methods.
| Figure | Source description | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| 1,200–2,700 Catalysts per Eternal Guardsman | MetaBot.GG guide; attributed to PC launch build 25907482, with data collected in October 2026 | Use as a reported range for that build and source, not a universal current payout |
| 8–12 Catalysts per kill | Valor Mortis Wiki community build guide, 2026 | Use only as a lower-confidence community claim; the unit and methodology are unclear |
| Official publisher payout | No official published statistic is supplied | Do not present either third-party number as an official guarantee |
The 1,200–2,700 range is tied to a specific PC launch build and an October 2026 data collection date. Patches, platform differences, enemy variants, or changes to the game’s economy can make it obsolete. The 8–12 figure comes from a separate community guide and should not be multiplied against the first range or used to calculate an exact hourly income.
What the 90-second Outer Courtyard claim means
A community build guide claims an Outer Courtyard Eternal Guard group respawns every 90 seconds and yields 8–12 Catalysts per kill. This is useful as a route lead, but it is not a verified game-wide timer.

- The claim is community-sourced rather than publisher-authored.
- The guide does not establish that the timer applies to every platform, patch, or Eternal Guard variant.
- The 8–12 payout is not directly comparable with the 1,200–2,700 range reported for PC launch-build data.
- Lantern resting is the clearest documented reset for non-boss enemies, so it is the dependable method to test a route yourself.
If you use Outer Courtyard, describe the result as “the community guide reports 90 seconds,” not “Eternal Guards respawn in exactly 90 seconds.” A patch can alter the timer without changing the Lantern rule.
Best farming choice: quest progress or currency?
| Goal | Correct target | Reset approach | Reward type | Main risk or limitation |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Finish The Oathbound | Seven named guards | No confirmed repeatable reset for quest loot | Seven emblems and seven Mysterious Stone Pyramids; the set produces the required slab | Do not expect an infinite reward loop |
| Build a Catalyst balance | Ordinary non-boss Eternal Guardsmen | Rest at the nearest Lantern | Catalysts | Carried Catalysts are lost on death unless recovered |
| Test a fast route | Outer Courtyard ordinary guards, if convenient | Lantern rest; compare the community timer only as an observation | Community-reported 8–12 per kill | Timer and unit are unverified and may vary by build |
Death, Lanterns, and recovering Catalysts
The death rules make risk management part of the farm. Upon death, you respawn at the last Lantern you rekindled. Your carried Catalysts drop at the location where you died. You must return there to retrieve them; if you die again before recovering them, the lost Catalysts are gone permanently.
Safe operating rules
- Rekindle the Lantern before starting a long loop so the return point is close.
- Spend or bank Catalysts before attempting a dangerous shortcut or a higher-risk pull.
- After a death, prioritize recovery over starting a fresh clear. A second death before pickup permanently removes the dropped Catalysts.
- Do not judge a route only by its gross payout. Include the walk back, enemy difficulty, and probability of losing a full carried balance.
Because resting both restores resources and revives non-boss enemies, a controlled route can be safer than waiting for an unverified timer in a distant area.

When a patch or platform makes an old guide questionable, record your own observations without treating them as universal rules.

- Compatible with Wide Screens - To ensure compatibility with the dual monitor mount, your each monitor must meet three conditions at the same time: First, computer screens size range: 13 to 32 inches. Second, screen weight range: 4.4 to 19.8 lbs. Third, the back of the monitor screen must have VESA mounting holes with a pitch of 75x75mm or 100x100mm.
- Regarding the compatibility with desks - Your desk must meet three conditions at the same time: First, desk material: Only wooden desks are recommended, plastic or glass desks cannot be used. Second, desk thickness range: 0.59" - 3.54". Third, the bottom of the desk should not have any cross beams or panels, as this will interfere with installation. We recommend carefully checking that your desk and monitors meets all above conditions before purchasing.

Whether you’re working from home, gaming through the night, or switching between video calls and documents, getting the screens to your natural line of sight helps relieve neck, shoulder and back strain so you can stay focused longer with less fatigue.
- Keep Your Desk Organized: By lifting both screens off the desktop, this dual monitor stand opens up valuable space for your keyboard, notebook, docking station or a simple, clutter-free work area. Built-in cable management guides wires along the arms, keeping cords out of sight and out of the way. Enjoy a tidy, modern workstation that looks as good as it feels to use.
- Rekindle the Lantern nearest the target group.
- Record the time immediately after the final guard dies and note the number of Catalysts gained.
- Rest once and check whether the same non-boss enemies return.
- Run the route several times, separating Lantern resets from natural or timed returns.
- Repeat after changing areas or reloading only if the game’s current behavior requires it; do not assume a reload is equivalent to resting.
- Compare results across the same platform and patch. A result observed on a PC launch build does not automatically apply to another build.
This process can establish what your installation does, but it cannot turn a community observation into an official guarantee for every player.
Common mistakes and their fixes
Mistake: farming a named guard for Catalysts
Fix: Use the seven named encounters to collect emblems and pyramids for The Oathbound. Switch to ordinary non-boss guards when your goal is currency.
Mistake: assuming every Eternal Guard is a boss
Fix: The Lantern rule applies to non-boss enemies. Identify whether the target is a regular guard or one of the named quest encounters before planning a loop.

Mistake: combining incompatible Catalyst figures
Fix: Keep the 1,200–2,700 PC launch-build range and the separate 8–12 community claim in their original contexts. The evidence does not establish that they describe the same payout unit.
Mistake: carrying the entire balance through every run
Fix: Bank or spend Catalysts regularly. A death drops all carried Catalysts, and a second death before recovery deletes them permanently.
What is established—and what is not
- Established: There are seven named Oathbound guards across the Battlefields, Fallen Village, Valley of Ashes, Caverns, Cursed Hollow, City of Orphans, and Fortress.
- Established: The named set supplies seven emblems and seven Mysterious Stone Pyramids used to produce the slab for The Oathbound.
- Established: Resting at a Lantern restores health and Nephtoglobin and revives all non-boss enemies.
- Established: Death returns you to the last rekindled Lantern, drops carried Catalysts at the death site, and permanently removes them if you die again before recovery.
- Reported by third parties: 1,200–2,700 Catalysts per Eternal Guardsman on a PC launch-build data set, and an Outer Courtyard claim of an approximately 90-second return with 8–12 Catalysts per kill.
- Not established: An official respawn timer for ordinary guards, a repeatable respawn rule for named Oathbound quest loot, or a publisher-confirmed Catalyst payout.
For a reliable farm, use the Lantern clear-and-rest loop on ordinary guards and manage your carried Catalysts conservatively. For The Oathbound, follow the seven-region checklist and collect each emblem and pyramid once; do not plan around an undocumented second reward.
