Yes—but this was a compact, low-powered Windows 10 PC fitted into a much thicker aftermarket Game Boy-style shell, not an original Nintendo handheld. Maker Left4alan reported using it for older PC games and emulation; it was not a modern gaming machine, and its reported battery life was not independently tested.
What was inside the Windows 10 Game Boy?
The build combined small PC components with handheld controls and a 3.5-inch LCD. Its reported specification was:
- Processor: Intel Atom 8350, using integrated graphics rather than a dedicated graphics card.
- Memory and storage: 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, according to the builder’s Reddit comments, reported circa 2020 (builder’s Reddit thread).
- Display: a 3.5-inch LCD, as reported by both the builder and Hackster News (Hackster News coverage).
- Battery: the builder listed a 10,000 mAh battery; Hackster reported five hours of gaming. Those are reported figures, not independent runtime test results.
- Pointing and controls: a small trackball handled mouse input, the D-pad was mapped to WASD, and the builder said the left and right mouse buttons were on the back.
The reported build had no built-in speaker. Hackster said headphones were required, while the builder also mentioned Bluetooth audio and a headphone jack.
How did the hardware fit in the shell?
It was not an unmodified Nintendo Game Boy. Left4alan used an aftermarket shell and added a spacer that made the case substantially thicker, leaving room for the computer, battery, screen, and controls. Hackster reported extensive epoxy resin to patch the altered case; the builder described epoxy as the main structural adhesive, with hot glue around wiring and contacts.

That thicker enclosure was a practical compromise: the project kept a recognizable handheld shape, but it could not retain the dimensions of a stock Game Boy. The sources do not establish a complete parts-cost total.
Which games could it run?
The builder reported playing games including Halo and Halo 2, Half-Life 2, Left 4 Dead 2, and Team Fortress, as well as indie games. The builder also reported emulating Nintendo GameCube games and earlier systems. These are user-reported examples, not published benchmark tests, so they do not establish consistent frame rates or settings for every game.

Hackster characterized the machine as capable of running many PC games from 2008 and earlier, while saying newer AAA releases were generally beyond its reach. Steam could be installed for compatible indie games, but installing Steam does not mean every game in its library would run well—or run at all—on this hardware.
How long did the battery last?
Hackster reported five hours of gaming, and the builder listed a 10,000 mAh battery. Neither source supplies an independent battery test or conditions such as game, screen brightness, or wireless-audio use. Treat five hours as a reported estimate for this project, not a guaranteed runtime.

What the project does—and does not—show
The build demonstrates that a small Windows PC can be adapted to handheld controls and housed in a Game Boy-style case. It does not show that an original Game Boy can accept a PC without substantial modification, or that the resulting device matches a dedicated gaming handheld in performance, comfort, or battery life. As Hackster writer Cameron Coward put it, “The computer used for this project definitely isn’t comparable to a modern gaming PC and it isn’t capable of running many recent releases aside from 2D indie games.”
