Fortnite’s documented PS5 settings let you turn its native reticle on or off, but Epic’s support instructions reviewed here do not describe a way to choose a custom reticle shape or color. To restore the standard aiming marker, open Settings > Game UI > Reticle & Damage Feedback, switch Reticle on, and apply the setting.
How to turn the Fortnite reticle on
- Open Fortnite’s menu and select Settings.
- Choose the Game UI tab.
- Under Reticle & Damage Feedback, switch Reticle on.
- Apply the setting.
Epic’s HUD guide identifies this section as the place for reticle and related HUD options. Its crosshair instructions describe the Reticle control as a visibility toggle. If your aiming marker is missing, check that setting first.
Can you change the reticle’s shape or color?
The official Fortnite instructions cited above document showing or hiding the native reticle; they do not describe selecting a custom shape or color. That is the limit of those instructions, not proof that every possible external workaround is impossible. The sources reviewed do not verify a PS5 overlay or other external method as compatible or supported, so there is no documented custom-crosshair option to recommend here.
What about aim assist, visual cues, or haptics?
Epic lists aim-assist strength, visual cues, and PS5 haptic feedback among Fortnite’s accessibility features. Its accessibility guidance does not describe these as controls for reticle appearance. They are separate features, not documented ways to change the crosshair’s shape or color.
