A VGC location guide documents two Beorcan’s Twinned Keys in separate underground chests beside the Beorcan Stronghold door. A recent player post says the Forger can make a copy of the second key, but that claim is anecdotal and has not been independently verified. Treat the two chests as the reliable solution; regard forging as an unproven fallback.
What is actually confirmed about getting a replacement?
The Beorcan Stronghold entrance requires two Beorcan’s Twinned Keys. The documented way to obtain them is to open two different underground chests near the large locked door. One key is in each chest, and both routes begin in the immediate vicinity of the entrance.

The possibility of obtaining a third key comes from a recent player report. According to that post, the Forger can copy the second key when the original cannot be found. No official Capcom explanation, independently tested walkthrough, or second reliable source establishes that this works. The report does not establish the required materials, price, waiting period, quest conditions, success rate, or whether a copied key always opens the Stronghold door.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsThat leaves two different levels of certainty:
| Option | What the evidence supports | Confidence |
|---|---|---|
| Search the underground chests | A guide published by VGC on October 8, 2026 describes one key in each chest and gives routes to both. | Documented guide route, though not official Capcom documentation |
| Ask the Forger for a copy | A single recent player post reports that the second key can be copied. | Anecdotal and unverified |
If you have not checked both chest locations, searching is the safer choice. If one key appears to be permanently missing in your save, the reported forgery is worth considering only with the understanding that it may not work as described.

Find the first Beorcan’s Twinned Key
The first route uses an ice-covered hatch hidden among ruins. It is easy to miss because the hatch is not presented as a conspicuous entrance and the path is described relative to the Stronghold door rather than a named fast-travel point.
- Stand at the large locked Beorcan Stronghold door.
- Follow the path away from the door.
- At a bend to the right, inspect the chapel-like ruins on the left side of the path.
- Look for an underground hatch covered in ice.
- Break the ice covering the hatch, then descend.
- Enter the small room below and open the chest. This chest contains one Beorcan’s Twinned Key.
The direction matters: the route begins at the door but moves away from it. If you remain directly around the entrance, you can overlook the ruins because they sit off the path. The ice-covered hatch is the identifying landmark; do not assume an ordinary surface doorway is the correct entrance.
Find the second Beorcan’s Twinned Key
The second chest is also close to the Stronghold, but its entrance is concealed behind a small ruin. The ruin’s visible door is locked from the opposite side, so trying to open that door from the front does not reveal the route.

- Return to the area around the large Stronghold door.
- Locate the small ruin whose door is locked from the other side.
- Circle around the ruin instead of repeatedly attempting the locked door.
- Find the hatch behind the structure and descend into the underground passage.
- Follow the hallway. An enemy is present along this route, so clear or avoid it before continuing.
- Climb the ladder with mushrooms growing on it.
- At the top, enter the room behind the previously locked door and open the chest. This is the chest containing the second key.
The mushrooms on the ladder are a useful visual confirmation that you are on the intended route. If you reach a dead end without seeing that ladder, you are likely still on the wrong side of the ruin or have missed the hatch behind it.
Why the two chest routes should come before forging
The two routes are supported by a location walkthrough that identifies the surroundings, the hidden entrances and the contents of both chests. By contrast, the replacement claim is based on one community post. There is no confirmed comparison of the time or resources needed for either approach, and there is no verified test showing that a copied key opens the Stronghold door.
Use this decision order:
- Check your inventory and retrace both routes. The guide places both chests underground and close to the same large door, so a missing key is more likely to reflect an overlooked hatch or ruin than a need for a replacement.
- Recheck the first hatch. It is hidden among chapel-like ruins and covered by ice; the ice must be broken before the descent is visible.
- Recheck the second ruin from behind. Its front door is locked from the other side. The correct entrance is a hatch reached by circling around the structure.
- Only then consider the Forger report. Treat any result as save-specific until you have confirmed that the copied item is accepted by the door.
Do not plan around an assumed duplication recipe. The available report does not say which Forger menu entry to use, whether the key must be in a particular inventory, what materials are consumed, or how long the process takes. Those details should not be treated as established mechanics.

Is the Beorcan Stronghold door required?
According to the VGC guide, the door is optional for players whose only objective is completing the main story. The guide mentions valuable rewards beyond the entrance but does not name them. Because the rewards are unspecified, there is no reliable basis for deciding whether they justify spending time on an unverified key-copy attempt.
If your immediate goal is story completion, you can continue without treating the missing key as a progression blocker. If you want to explore the Stronghold or collect its rewards, first use the two documented chest routes. The optional status reduces the risk of leaving the area temporarily while you decide whether an uncertain forging attempt is worthwhile.
How to troubleshoot a missing key
You cannot see the first hatch
- Start at the large locked door and deliberately move away from it rather than searching only around the doorway.
- At the right-hand bend, examine the chapel-like ruins on the left side.
- Look for ice covering the hatch; the entrance is not simply an open stairwell.
- Break the ice before looking for a descent.
The second ruin’s door will not open
- That door is described as locked from the other side, so its failure to open from the front is expected.
- Walk around the ruin and search behind it for the hatch.
- After descending, follow the hallway and look for the mushroom-covered ladder leading to the room behind the door.
You have found one key but still cannot open the entrance
The Stronghold requires two keys, not one. Finding either chest does not remove the need to locate the other. Revisit the other route before assuming that a copy is necessary.

You are considering the Forger
Keep the claim in the right category: it is a player-reported possibility, not a guaranteed feature documented by Capcom or confirmed by the location guide. Record your save state before committing resources if your platform allows a safe manual backup, and verify the door’s response rather than assuming the copied item has identical functionality.

Beorcan Stronghold information is presented in the context of Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen, a paid expansion announced by Capcom for release on October 9, 2026. Capcom lists Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC as supported platforms. A combined package containing the main game and expansion is also listed, so check whether a store listing is for the expansion alone or for the bundle.

Make sure the account and platform on which you are playing include the appropriate Dark Arisen content. The available location guide does not establish that the Stronghold or its keys appear in the base game without the expansion, so do not infer access from owning only an older edition of Dragon’s Dogma 2.

What is known—and what is not
| Question | Established information | Not established |
|---|---|---|
| How many keys are needed? | Two Beorcan’s Twinned Keys are required for the Stronghold door. | No evidence of a third key being placed in another normal chest. |
| Where are the reliable keys? | One is in an underground chest reached through an ice-covered hatch near chapel-like ruins; the other is in a chest reached through a hatch behind a small ruin. | No official map coordinates or Capcom-authored route are supplied. |
| Can a key be copied? | One recent player post says the Forger can copy the second key. | Materials, cost, timing, menu steps, success rate and door compatibility. |
| Must the door be opened? | The guide describes it as optional for main-story completion. | The exact rewards behind the door. |
| How common is this problem? | No frequency statistic is available. | Any measured rate of lost keys, failed copies or duplicate keys. |
For broader context only, Capcom reported that the Dragon’s Dogma series had sold more than 14 million units cumulatively as of March 31, 2026. That is a series-wide figure, not a sales number for Dark Arisen and not evidence about the Stronghold or its keys.
Bottom line on another Beorcan Twinned Key
There are two dependable targets: the ice-covered hatch near the chapel-like ruins and the hatch behind the small ruin with the reverse-locked door. Those chests provide the pair required by the Stronghold. A Forger-made replacement is possible according to one player’s report, but its method and reliability remain unverified. Search both underground rooms first, and pursue the reported copy only as an optional, uncertain fallback.
