Yes, but it depends on what you mean by “demoted.” Riot’s published ranked TFT FAQ says you can drop to a lower division at 0 LP if your MMR is too low for your current division. It says players from Iron through Master do not drop to a lower tier, while Grandmaster and Challenger players can. The FAQ was published November 28, 2023, so check your current in-game ranked details for confirmation if a newer season or patch may have changed the rules.
Can you drop a division in TFT?
Yes. Riot’s FAQ says you can be demoted to a lower division when you are at 0 LP and your MMR is too low for your current division. This is a division drop within a tier, not necessarily a drop from one major rank tier to another.

The FAQ also says you cannot demote from Master or Diamond to avoid inactivity LP decay. Because that wording sits alongside separate descriptions of tier demotion, do not treat it as a complete explanation of every rank-protection mechanic; consult current in-game details for your rank.
Does inactivity make you lose TFT LP?
Riot’s FAQ describes inactivity decay for Master and above. It says eligible players can store up to 14 games. Once there is no played or stored game to cover a day, the FAQ lists these daily LP losses:

Have the rules been confirmed for the current TFT season?
Riot’s April 15, 2026 set-launch notice confirms a ranked reset and five placement games, but it does not explain or update demotion rules. The tier and decay details above therefore come from Riot’s November 28, 2023 FAQ, and a newer official page does not independently confirm that those details remain unchanged.
