The RAGE:MP team said it would stop accepting new community servers, discontinue public access to the server toolkit, close public listings on June 1, 2026, and shut down platform support and its backend on August 31, 2026. Those dates have passed. For existing operators, the team’s stated direction was to wind down RAGE:MP and migrate to FiveM; it did not describe an automatic conversion.
RAGE:MP’s announced shutdown dates have passed
In an announcement posted by ragempdev on May 25, 2026, the RAGE:MP Team said it was no longer accepting new community servers and had discontinued public access to the server toolkit. It set June 1, 2026, as the date public server listings would close, and August 31, 2026, as the date for platform end-of-support and backend shutdown. As of October 13, 2026, both deadlines have passed. Read the official RAGE:MP announcement for the team’s statement.

This is not an ordinary case of following an older installation guide, opening a port, and bringing a new server online. The team’s notice says the public toolkit is no longer available and the announced backend shutdown has occurred. The available sources do not establish whether particular former server processes or files can still be accessed privately; that uncertainty does not change the announced service status. There is no reliable basis here for presenting a new RAGE:MP deployment as actionable or supported.
For an existing operator deciding what to do, the announcement’s instruction was explicit: “We are asking all server owners to wind down their operations and migrate to FiveM.” The team also identified Cfx as offering support for transition questions. That is a migration direction, not a promise that RAGE:MP servers will continue working until each owner is ready, nor a claim that migration is automatic.

In practical terms, a question like “How do I host a RAGE:MP server in 2026?” has two different answers depending on what the reader means. If it means setting up a new, supported RAGE:MP community server, the announcement says new servers were no longer being accepted, public toolkit access had been discontinued, and the end-of-support/backend deadline has passed. If it means understanding an old server or planning what to do with an existing community, the legacy wiki details below can help identify the historical files, ports, and configuration—but they are not a current setup path.
What the old setup instructions describe
The RAGE:MP wiki’s server guide documents the former installation approach for Windows and Linux. It remains useful for understanding old guides, files, and configurations, but it predates the May 2026 shutdown announcement. Do not treat it as a current recipe for starting a supported RAGE:MP server. The difference matters: a guide can accurately describe how software was installed at the time it was written without establishing that the files, listing, toolkit, or backend remain available now.
Windows: the historical file-acquisition sequence
The wiki’s Windows instructions describe installing the latest Visual C++ Redistributable, changing the client configuration to the server prerelease channel, running the client updater, extracting a server_files directory, restoring the client configuration, and running the updater again. The server was then launched with ragemp-server.exe. In sequence, this was a process that used the RAGE:MP client updater to obtain server files; it was not simply a current standalone server download in the guide’s description.
Those details can help an operator recognize instructions in an old checklist: the Visual C++ prerequisite, a temporary client-channel change, an updater run, the extracted server directory, a restoration of the client configuration, and a second updater run. However, each step depends on the old distribution method and access to the required files. In the context of the later shutdown notice, these are historical steps—not evidence that the toolkit can still be obtained or that a server launched this way will connect to a functioning backend. Do not treat repeating the sequence, or obtaining a preexisting copy of a directory, as a way around the announced service status.
Linux: extracting and running the server files
The Linux instructions describe downloading and extracting the Linux server files, making the server executable, and running ragemp-server. The wiki also describes systemd as an option for running the process as a background service. In other words, the old guide covers both the basic extract-and-run path and a way to manage the process as a service. That context may help someone identify what an old Linux deployment was doing, but it is not confirmation that a new server can now be provisioned.

These instructions likewise depend on access to the server files and do not override the later announcement that public access to the toolkit was discontinued and platform support and backend shutdown were scheduled for August 31, 2026. The source does not provide a current supported installation path after those changes. Repeating an old download or launch procedure cannot restore a discontinued backend, and the documented steps should not be mistaken for a way to bypass the shutdown.
Historical ports and configuration, for interpreting old servers
The wiki documented a default server port of 22005 and an HTTP client-package port of 22006—the port following the server port by default. Its setup guide advised forwarding the ports on the router and allowing them through the firewall. These values describe the legacy configuration; they are not proof that RAGE:MP service is available now. If you are reading an old guide that asks which ports to forward, those are the documented defaults it refers to, not a troubleshooting step that can bring back the platform backend.

| Legacy setting | Documented value or role | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
port |
22005 by default |
Server access port in the wiki’s settings reference. |
| HTTP package port | 22006 by default |
The port after the server port, used for HTTP hosting of client packages. |
bind |
127.0.0.1 by default |
Documented setting in the legacy configuration reference; not a current connectivity recommendation. |
maxplayers |
100 by default |
A documented default, not a tested capacity or hardware recommendation. |
gamemode |
Freeroam by default |
A documented default game mode. |
stream-distance |
500.0 by default |
A documented default, not a performance guarantee. |
These names and defaults come from the RAGE:MP server settings reference. The same legacy settings material describes conf.json as the place where server configuration was specified. Among the listed fields are announce, bind, gamemode, name, maxplayers, and port. The fields tell an old operator where such choices were recorded; they do not constitute a current configuration template or prove the server can announce itself to a live service.
A setting value explains how the legacy server was configured; it does not tell you whether the public listing, backend, or toolkit remains available. In particular, changing a port or firewall rule cannot reverse the shutdown described by the team. Likewise, a configured player limit of 100 is just the documented default. The available sources do not establish hardware requirements, actual capacity, or performance at that limit, so do not use it to infer a CPU, RAM, or bandwidth requirement.
The settings reference also notes that enable-http-security can cause a resource-download problem in at least the referenced RAGE 1.1 behavior. That is a version-specific warning from the legacy documentation, not a general fix for present-day connectivity. Avoid changing settings based on isolated old advice without understanding which server version and behavior it describes. A historical warning about one setting cannot be generalized into a current workaround for the shutdown.

How to prepare an existing community for FiveM migration
The RAGE:MP announcement points existing operators toward FiveM and says Cfx offered support for transition questions. The cited materials do not document a complete RAGE:MP-to-FiveM conversion procedure, a one-click importer, or guaranteed compatibility for existing scripts and assets. Treat migration as a project to assess and rebuild where necessary, not as a direct server-file move. The steps below are planning steps based on the old project structure and the announcement’s stated direction; they are not a sourced FiveM migration manual.
- Record the current server’s contents. Make an inventory of the RAGE:MP configuration, resources, maps, plugins, and any external services your community depends on. Note which features players use and which parts of the project are custom. Keep copies of files and records you are entitled to retain. This inventory is for planning and does not itself convert those assets.
- Separate the legacy directory by purpose. The RAGE:MP development guide describes
packagesfor server resources,client_packagesfor client resources, mapsfor map files, pluginsfor custom DLL plugins, andconf.jsonfor configuration. Use these categories to identify what you have and what will need a FiveM-specific replacement or review. The folder names are useful for cataloging a RAGE:MP project; they should not be read as matching FiveM folder conventions. - Identify custom code and dependencies. The guide describes Node.js development and notes C# as another scripting option. Record which resources use those approaches, what each one does, and whether its source and required assets are available. Also note dependencies that sit outside the RAGE:MP directory, such as services the server uses, so they can be assessed separately. The documentation cited here does not establish that RAGE:MP scripts, DLL plugins, maps, or configuration can be carried over unchanged.
- Distinguish reusable material from platform-specific behavior. An inventory can show what assets exist, but it cannot establish whether a script, plugin, map, or configuration item works on FiveM. Mark each item for compatibility review rather than assuming a file can be copied and run. The available sources do not give a conversion table or a list of interchangeable resource formats.
- Ask Cfx about transition questions. The RAGE:MP Team’s announcement identified Cfx as a source of support for transition questions. Use that channel to clarify what support is available for your case; do not assume it will perform a complete conversion or preserve every feature. The announcement’s reference to support does not guarantee a particular response, timeline, or migration outcome.
- Plan a FiveM implementation separately. Decide what the community needs on the successor platform, then verify the relevant FiveM requirements and compatibility for each resource and service. The RAGE:MP setup wiki is not a FiveM installation guide, and the cited sources do not provide FiveM configuration instructions. Treat the replacement as a separate platform project rather than as a change of executable or directory name.
- Communicate the change clearly. Tell players where official updates will appear, what will happen to the old community, and when the replacement experience is ready. Do not advertise a migrated server as available until the new implementation has been independently set up and confirmed to work. The official direction was to wind down and migrate; the announcement does not establish that old and new communities will overlap or that an old server will remain supported during a transition.
For legacy project structure and scripting context, see the RAGE:MP development guide. It helps identify what an old project contains; it does not document a complete conversion to FiveM. That distinction is particularly important if you find a tutorial that treats a RAGE:MP resource folder as a ready-made FiveM import: the cited documentation does not support that claim.
Choosing hosting for a successor project
The available sources establish no current RAGE:MP hosting options to compare. They also do not verify any named provider’s FiveM support or migration service. If you are arranging hosting for a FiveM project, confirm the provider’s current FiveM support directly and check the features that affect your setup before paying. There is no sourced basis here for ranking a provider, naming a current price, or promising that a particular host will migrate an existing RAGE:MP community.
If you decide to build the successor project on FiveM, Godlike.Host offers FiveM server hosting with free DDoS protection, a Pterodactyl-based panel, up to three free backups a day with restore, and SFTP/FTP access; see the current plans for details. It also has a free FiveM server (1 GB, 10 slots) for trying the panel, which must be extended every 3 hours, has limited panel features and one location. It is not on Cfx.re’s list of authorized FiveM hosts (fivem.net, 10 Oct 2026).
- Platform support: confirm that the provider supports the FiveM server configuration you intend to run. A generic game-server hosting claim is not by itself verification of support for your particular platform.
- Migration and imports: ask what assistance is available, what data can be imported, and whether custom resources require manual work. Get clear about what the provider means by migration help; the RAGE:MP announcement’s mention of Cfx transition support is not an endorsement of a commercial host.
- Location and latency: choose a server location that suits the community’s geography, and test player connections if possible. No specific location recommendation or latency figure is published in the available sources.
- Resources and databases: confirm support for your specific server resources and any database or external services they require. A hosting plan should be checked against the successor project’s actual dependencies rather than assumptions based on the old RAGE:MP setup.
- Backups and exports: check what is backed up, how often, how restoration works, and whether you can download your files. These questions matter both for continuity and for retaining control of project data.
- Protection and support: verify the provider’s current protection details, support hours, and contact methods rather than relying on a general hosting label.
- Total recurring cost: compare the full ongoing cost for the required configuration, including any separately charged services. The RAGE:MP sources provide no current price comparison, so calculate the successor project’s costs from current provider terms instead of treating any number as a RAGE:MP hosting price.
A hosting purchase cannot restore the announced RAGE:MP backend or make its toolkit publicly available again. A PC, router, or storage upgrade does not alter that status either. Select a provider only after confirming that it supports the successor platform and the specific services your new project needs. No provider or product is endorsed by the sources used here.

Common questions
Can I still make a RAGE:MP server?
The team’s May 25, 2026 notice said it was no longer accepting new community servers and that public access to its server toolkit had been discontinued. It scheduled platform end-of-support and backend shutdown for August 31, 2026. As of October 13, 2026, the stated deadline has passed, so a new supported RAGE:MP server should not be treated as an available project.
What ports did a RAGE:MP server use?
The legacy wiki documented 22005 for server access and 22006 by default for HTTP client-package hosting. Its guide advised forwarding the ports at the router and allowing them in the firewall. Those are historical configuration values, not evidence of a working RAGE:MP service after the announced shutdown.
Does migrating to FiveM convert my server automatically?
No automatic migration path is established by the cited announcement or wiki pages. The team directed owners to migrate to FiveM and identified Cfx as offering transition support, but the sources do not promise an importer or full compatibility for RAGE:MP code and assets. Inventory the project and check each part rather than assuming it can be transferred unchanged.
What did the old RAGE:MP setup guide require?
For Windows, the wiki described installing the latest Visual C++ Redistributable, switching the client configuration to the server prerelease channel, running the updater, extracting server_files, restoring the client configuration, updating again, and launching ragemp-server.exe. For Linux, it described extracting the server files, making them executable, and running ragemp-server; systemd was an option for background operation. These are historical instructions and not a reliable current deployment recipe.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesWhat should I do with my old configuration and resources?
Use the documented legacy structure to inventory them: conf.json held configuration, while packages, client_packages, maps, and plugins represented server resources, client resources, map files, and custom DLL plugins. The development guide describes Node.js and C# scripting. The sources do not explain a full conversion, so treat each item as something to review for a FiveM-specific replacement or compatibility.
Best Value
Are the old defaults performance recommendations?
No. The wiki lists values such as maxplayers defaulting to 100 and stream-distance defaulting to 500.0, but these are documented settings, not tested performance targets. The available sources provide no current CPU, memory, bandwidth, or player-capacity guidance.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I still make a RAGE:MP server in 2026?
Not as a new supported project based on the team’s May 25, 2026 announcement. It said new community servers were no longer being accepted, public toolkit access had been discontinued, and platform end-of-support/backend shutdown was scheduled for August 31, 2026. That date has passed.
What ports does a RAGE:MP server need?
The legacy wiki documented port 22005 for server access and 22006 by default for HTTP hosting of client packages. It advised router forwarding and firewall access for those historical ports. They do not indicate that the RAGE:MP service is currently available.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
How do I move my RAGE:MP server to FiveM?
The RAGE:MP Team directed owners to wind down and migrate to FiveM, and identified Cfx as offering support for transition questions. The cited sources do not describe a complete conversion, one-click importer, or guaranteed compatibility. Inventory the old configuration, resources, maps, plugins, code, and dependencies, then assess a FiveM implementation separately.
Can I use my RAGE:MP scripts and assets on FiveM unchanged?
The sources do not establish that RAGE:MP scripts, DLL plugins, maps, or configuration can be used unchanged on FiveM. Treat each item as requiring review; the RAGE:MP development guide is useful for identifying project contents, not for converting them.
Do the old RAGE:MP player and stream-distance defaults tell me what hardware to buy?
No. The legacy settings reference lists maxplayers as 100 and stream-distance as 500.0 by default, but neither is a tested capacity or performance recommendation. The available sources provide no current CPU, RAM, or bandwidth sizing guidance.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: The RAGE:MP Team’s announced June 1 listing closure and August 31, 2026 end-of-support/backend shutdown deadlines have passed, and it had already stopped accepting new community servers and discontinued public toolkit access. Don’t treat old Windows, Linux, port, or conf.json instructions as a current way to launch a supported server. For existing communities, the official direction was to wind down and migrate to FiveM; inventory the legacy project, ask Cfx about transition questions, and verify successor-platform hosting and requirements independently.
