Once you complete a purchase of a full game on PlayStation Store, the sale ending does not revoke it. The game remains available from the library of the PlayStation account that bought it. A PlayStation Plus game is different: access depends on the subscription and the game’s availability through the service.
How to find and download a game you bought on sale
Sign in to the account used for the purchase, then open the game library. PlayStation’s download instructions list the purchased-game locations as Game Library > Your Collection on PS5 and Library > Purchased on PS4. Choose the game there to start its download. You do not need to buy it again at the regular price just because the discount ended.

A sale purchase and a PlayStation Plus game are different

PlayStation says Plus games and service features can change. Check the PS Plus Usage Terms for the US terms and confirm the game is still available through the service. If you want access independent of Plus, buy the game separately from PlayStation Store.
If a purchased game is missing or locked
- Check the account. Make sure you are signed in to the PlayStation account that made the purchase.
- Check the purchase record. Review transaction history to confirm the purchase completed successfully.
- Look in the correct library section. On PS5, check Game Library > Your Collection; on PS4, check Library > Purchased, then try downloading the game.
- For a Plus game, check the entitlement. Verify that your subscription is active and that the game remains available through Plus.
- If it is still locked, troubleshoot the license. Follow PlayStation’s game-download troubleshooting steps or contact PlayStation Support. A lock by itself does not show that the sale ending removed the purchase.
Sale duration is not the refund period
A sale’s end date determines when the discounted price stops being offered; it is not the period during which you can keep the game. Refund eligibility is a separate matter. Under PlayStation’s US cancellation policy, a game or add-on may be canceled within 14 days of purchase if downloading or streaming has not started. Downloaded or streamed games generally are not eligible for a refund unless faulty. The policy also recognizes applicable local-law rights, so check the rules for your country or region.

Digital access is a license, not ownership of the game
Keeping a purchase in your library does not mean you own the digital product outright or that access is guaranteed in every circumstance. Sony Interactive Entertainment’s March 2026 Terms of Service for the UK and Ireland describe digital products as personal-use licenses and state: “This means you can use a Digital Product in the ways described in the licence but you do not own the Digital Product.” Those regional terms also say that closing or deleting the purchasing account, or account suspension, may affect access. Terms and consumer protections vary by region; see the UK/Ireland terms for their scope and wording.
