Yes. Sign in on another compatible device with the same Microsoft account, but make sure your Minecraft purchase covers that device and edition. Signing in does not automatically grant a new game license or move locally saved worlds.
How to sign in on a different device
- Use the Microsoft account that owns Minecraft. On PC, open the Minecraft Launcher or Microsoft Store while signed in to the account used to buy the game. On console or mobile, install Minecraft from the platform store where it was purchased. Minecraft’s new-device guidance explains that setup and transfer options vary by platform.
- Check that your purchase covers the destination. The game license and Microsoft account sign-in are separate. On PC, the Launcher shows Play or Install for editions the account owns and Buy Now if it does not. Minecraft says Java and Bedrock were bundled for personal computers beginning June 7, 2022; that PC entitlement guidance does not establish a universal license for consoles or mobile.
- Follow the device’s sign-in flow. On Android and Apple devices, start Minecraft, select Sign In, enter the Microsoft account, and allow the profile and previously purchased Marketplace content to load. On PlayStation, link the account using the on-screen code. Other platforms may use different steps.
- Switch accounts if the wrong profile appears. Sign out using the instructions for your specific platform, then sign in with the Microsoft account that owns the game or content.
Do you have to buy Minecraft again on the new device?
It depends on the destination platform and edition. Signing into the same Microsoft account does not make every Minecraft purchase available everywhere. Check the account’s entitlement in the destination platform’s store or, for PC editions, in the Launcher. Minecraft’s PC ownership guidance covers PC versions; do not apply it as proof of a console or mobile license.
Will your Minecraft worlds transfer?
Not automatically in every case. Worlds saved locally may remain on the old device, and transfer methods depend on platform. Minecraft describes options that can include cloud storage, physical storage, or Realms; use instructions for the specific platform rather than assuming one method works universally.
Transfer a Bedrock world with Realms
Minecraft documents Realms as one cloud-transfer route for Bedrock worlds. Both devices should be running the latest Minecraft version, and you need an active Realms trial or paid subscription. On the original device, upload the world to a Realm slot; on the destination device, sign in, open the Realm, and download the world. The downloaded world is a copy. This method is not a general transfer procedure for Java worlds.

Can you use Marketplace purchases on another device?
Some account-linked content is available across devices, but portability has limits. Minecraft says signing in on mobile can enable crossplay and access to Marketplace content on other gaming platforms. For PlayStation Bedrock, linking a Microsoft account provides access to non-exclusive Marketplace content previously purchased with that account on other game platforms; new PlayStation purchases use Minecraft Tokens in the PlayStation store.
Minecraft’s Minecoin guidance says Minecoins purchased for Bedrock or Legends carry between those games when you sign in with the Microsoft account used to buy them. Its Marketplace Pass guidance says Pass content is generally available on devices used to play Minecraft when you are signed in with that account. These statements do not establish that platform-exclusive items or all content transfer everywhere.

Why does Minecraft say you do not own the game?
- Check that the Microsoft account signed into Minecraft, the Launcher, or the store is the one used for the purchase. The confirmation email and Microsoft account order history can help identify the purchasing account.
- On PC, check the Launcher or Microsoft Store while signed into that account. The Launcher’s Buy Now message means the signed-in account does not show ownership of that edition.
- If sign-in is failing, Minecraft says signing into the Xbox app first with the owning account can sometimes resolve the problem.
- If Minecraft opens the wrong profile, sign out and follow the platform-specific steps to authenticate with the intended account.
If you have an old Mojang account, note that Minecraft’s migration period ended on December 18, 2023. Minecraft Support says it no longer assists with migration-related queries; the old migration process is not still available.
