The Championship Belt relic hunt in Totenreich does not save its side-quest progress between runs. If you leave, fail, disconnect, or otherwise end the game before completing the four-wave trial and picking up the belt, you must restart the setup and all required kills in a fresh run. Once you pick up the Championship Belt, it becomes an account-level unlock for Cursed Mode and Cursed Survival on every map. Ordinary gameplay provides no documented way to delete or permanently lose an already-unlocked belt.
The apparent loss during the trial is different: the game removes your weapons after each wave. That is an intended trial rule, not relic deletion. Perks, augments, and your field upgrade remain, so you can buy replacement wall guns and pay for Pack-a-Punch upgrades if you reserve enough Essence.

What “lose the belt” actually means
Players use “lose” to describe three different situations. Separating them matters because each has a different answer.

That distinction answers the most common concern: an interrupted hunt costs the entire unfinished attempt, while a claimed belt is intended to persist.

Why an unfinished attempt resets
The belt is not awarded when a counter reaches 50, when the portal appears, or when you enter the trial. Those are milestones inside one continuous setup. The account entitlement is created only when you clear the four waves and physically pick up the Championship Belt. Until that pickup, the game has no completed relic unlock to preserve.
Consequently, ending the match before the pickup does not leave a partial checklist waiting for you. The next attempt begins without the previous wall-buy totals, Jotunn Star total, portal activation, or trial progress. There is no documented checkpoint or method to bank the 900 required kills between sessions.

The verified route described below was solved on October 16, 2026, and remains the required sequence for the belt hunt.

The account must have completed the Totenreich main Easter Egg before the relic route is available. Load into Cursed Mode after that completion. Starting the hunt in an ordinary mode does not substitute for the Cursed Mode requirement described for this relic.

2. Collect the Mr. Peeks magazine before taking Jotunn Star
Run the Jotunn Star quest to the lighthouse. At the lighthouse, pick up the Mr. Peeks magazine first. Only after the magazine is in your inventory should you take the Jotunn Star wonder weapon.
The order is not cosmetic. Taking Jotunn Star before the magazine removes the magazine for that game, and later kills will not begin the required counters. If you make that mistake, do not continue trying to repair the run: restart the game and perform the sequence in the correct order.
3. Complete all 18 kill counters
You need 50 kills with each of the 17 wall-buy weapons and 50 kills with Jotunn Star. That is 18 separate counters and 900 total kills.

Only the wall-bought copy of a weapon counts for its wall-buy counter. Mystery Box weapons, weapons from a loadout, and weapons supplied by a teammate do not satisfy the corresponding requirement. If you are tracking progress, treat each wall location as its own assignment and verify that the counter advances while you use that specific purchase.

4. Enter the portal in Eidskallen Square
When every counter reaches 50, a portal appears by the Arsenal in Eidskallen Square. The portal is the transition to the relic trial, not a separate way to skip the counters. If it does not appear, at least one of the 18 counters has not registered; check that the weapon was bought from a wall and that the Jotunn Star kills were made after the magazine step.
5. Clear the four-wave trial
Enter the portal and complete all four waves. At the end of each wave, the trial takes your weapons. This happens repeatedly, so plan for four weapon-loss points rather than treating the first removal as a bug.
Your perks, augments, and field upgrade carry over. Those persistent tools are the reason the trial is recoverable between waves: buy another wall weapon, restore its damage with Pack-a-Punch when the budget allows, and continue using the upgrades that survived the transition.
6. Pick up the Championship Belt
After the fourth wave is cleared, pick up the Championship Belt. The pickup is the completion event that unlocks the relic on your account. Leaving the trial without collecting it does not provide the same protection as claiming it.

How to prepare for the weapon resets
The trial’s weapon removal is the main resource trap. You can finish a wave successfully and still be unable to afford a useful replacement if you spent every point before entering. Reserve Essence throughout the 900-kill setup instead of treating the portal as the end of your spending.
- Keep enough Essence for a wall-buy replacement after each wave.
- Budget additional Essence for Pack-a-Punch whenever the replacement needs to recover damage output.
- Use the perks, augments, and field upgrade that remain available after a weapon reset; replacing a gun does not mean rebuilding those parts of the loadout.
- Do not interpret the disappearance of a gun as a lost relic. The trial removes weapons by design, while the belt remains unclaimed until the final pickup.
There is no indication that the trial disables other relics or removes an already-earned account entitlement. Its documented penalty is the repeated weapon wipe.

You took Jotunn Star before the magazine
Restart that game. The Mr. Peeks magazine is gone for the run, so subsequent kills will not start the counters. Continuing to accumulate kills cannot convert the invalid sequence into a valid one.

Repeat the setup in a fresh run. Progress is not saved, so partial wall-buy totals and Jotunn Star kills do not carry over. The portal and trial must also be reached again.

You entered the trial and lost your weapons
That is expected behavior. Buy a replacement from a wall and Pack-a-Punch it if necessary. Your perks, augments, and field upgrade should still be available, so concentrate your recovery budget on the weapon and its damage level.
You cleared the trial but did not pick up the belt
The documented unlock event is the pickup itself. If the belt was not collected, treat the run as unfinished rather than assuming the account has been credited. The evidence does not describe a saved post-trial checkpoint.
You already picked up the belt and cannot see it equipped
Open the relic menu and equip the Championship Belt again. Guides describe the reward as account-level and usable in Cursed Mode and Cursed Survival on every map, so changing maps or starting another session should not require repeating the 900-kill route.
Can you reacquire the belt after unlocking it?
Under ordinary play, there is no reacquisition quest because there is no documented ordinary loss to recover from. Once claimed, the belt is an account unlock rather than a one-run item. You may need to select it again in the relic menu, but that is re-equipping an existing entitlement, not earning a second copy.
The available gameplay documentation does not establish procedures for account rollback, deletion, bans, platform unlinking, or server-side entitlement recovery. Those exceptional account problems should not be treated as normal ways to lose or reacquire the belt, and no reliable in-game recovery path is documented for them here.
Checklist before you commit to the trial
- Confirm the Totenreich main Easter Egg is complete on the account.
- Load Cursed Mode.
- At the lighthouse, collect the Mr. Peeks magazine before taking Jotunn Star.
- Record each of the 17 wall-buy weapons and complete 50 valid kills with every one.
- Complete 50 Jotunn Star kills, for 18 counters and 900 kills total.
- Verify the portal has appeared beside the Arsenal in Eidskallen Square.
- Enter with enough Essence for repeated wall-gun purchases and Pack-a-Punch upgrades.
- Finish all four waves, replacing weapons after each wave.
- Pick up the Championship Belt before ending the run.
The practical answer
You can lose an unfinished attempt, not a normally claimed belt. Before pickup, a failed or interrupted run wipes the relic hunt and forces you to repeat the magazine sequence, 18 counters, portal, and four-wave trial. During the trial, weapon removal is an intended modifier. After pickup, the Championship Belt remains an account-level relic for Cursed Mode and Cursed Survival on every map, with re-equipping available from the relic menu.
