Black Ops 7 does not have an offline mode

Why the solo campaign still needs internet
Black Ops 7’s campaign progression is connected to global progression across the game. The Co-Op Campaign can be experienced alone, but the solo option is still an online-connected session. If your connection drops or you are playing where no connection is available, you should not expect Campaign to launch or remain playable.
What this means for Multiplayer, Zombies and Endgame
Multiplayer and Zombies are online-oriented modes, so an internet connection is fundamental to their intended operation. Endgame is described by Call of Duty as a replayable shared experience connected to the Co-Op Campaign; treat it as subject to the same continuous-connection rule.

No official material cited for Black Ops 7 promises an offline bot mode, offline Zombies, or an offline version of Multiplayer. It also does not promise a local split-screen campaign. Those features should not be assumed simply because earlier games or other shooters offered them.
Cross-play works between Xbox, PlayStation and PC
Black Ops 7 supports online cross-play across Xbox, PlayStation and PC. A player on an Xbox console can therefore join a friend on PlayStation, while a PC player can join either console platform, provided the relevant online and social requirements are met.

Cross-Gen editions do not mean cross-platform ownership
A Cross-Gen edition covers both generations within one console family, such as PS4 and PS5 or Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. That solves a console-generation compatibility question, not a connectivity question. It does not make Black Ops 7 playable offline, and it does not guarantee free online multiplayer access on a console.
Playing the Co-Op Campaign with friends
The official campaign description presents Black Ops 7 as a Co-Op Campaign that lets players “squad up or go solo.” The COD 101 guide gives the party limit more precisely: one player can play alone, or a team can contain up to three additional players, for four players total.
How to invite friends
- Launch Black Ops 7 while connected to the internet.
- Enter the game’s social interface by selecting the Social tile.
- Choose the friend or friends you want to invite.
- Build a party of up to four players, including yourself, and start the Co-Op Campaign.
The campaign supports shared objectives, synchronized story moments and progression that carries across modes, according to Call of Duty’s official guide. A friend on another supported platform can join through cross-play rather than needing the same console.

Can one person play the campaign without paying for console online access?
Activision identifies solo Co-Op Campaign gameplay as the exception to the console subscription requirement. That means a solo campaign player on a console may not need PlayStation Plus or Xbox Game Pass for online multiplayer and social features. The continuous internet requirement still applies: the exception concerns the paid console online-service subscription, not the need for a network connection.

Subscription policies can vary by platform, region and season. Check the current console store or service terms before buying, particularly if you are relying on a subscription rather than owning the game.
Choosing an edition for mixed-generation households
If people in your household use different generations of the same console family, a Cross-Gen edition is the relevant purchase type. The PS5/PS4 Cross-Gen edition covers those two PlayStation generations; the equivalent Xbox Cross-Gen edition covers Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. A PC player instead needs the PC version available through the supported PC storefront.

Cross-Gen coverage is limited to the same family. A PlayStation purchase is not a substitute for an Xbox or PC copy, and buying a Cross-Gen edition does not change the cross-play rules or create an offline license.

“I am travelling and will have no internet. Can I finish Campaign?”

“Can I play the Co-Op Campaign alone?”
Yes. Solo play is supported, but it remains online and uses the game’s connected progression.

- Confirm the platform is supported. The supported list includes PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox PC, Battle.net and Steam.
- Use the Social tile for invitations. The official guide directs players to invite friends through that interface rather than treating the campaign as a local-only session.
- Check the party size. A Co-Op Campaign group cannot exceed four players total.

What Black Ops 7’s online design means in practice
Black Ops 7 is best understood as a connected game even when your immediate goal is a solo story session. The campaign’s solo option answers the question “Do I need other players?” with no. It does not answer “Can I disconnect?” with yes. Likewise, cross-play answers “Can friends on different platforms join?” with yes, but those sessions remain dependent on internet access and, on consoles, the applicable online-service subscription.
