How many people can play Far Cry 5’s campaign together?
Campaign co-op is for two players total, not two guests plus a host. One player hosts the campaign and invites one friend online. Ubisoft describes it as a two-player co-op experience across campaign missions: Far Cry 5 official game page.

Friends can join after the host completes the opening tutorial and leaves Dutch’s Island. Ubisoft’s support instructions say co-op becomes available once the host has left the island. The host can then open Pause > Online > Invite friends. The players must be friends on the platform they are using. See Ubisoft’s co-op invitation instructions.
Can three or more people play together?
Not in the campaign co-op session: it is limited to the host and one friend. Far Cry Arcade is the option for multiplayer beyond that two-person story session. Arcade contains custom co-op and competitive levels; Ubisoft gave a 12-player team deathmatch as an example in its 2018 Arcade overview. That example does not mean every Arcade map or mode supports 12 players.

Whose story progress is saved in co-op?
The host owns the campaign’s story progress. If you join another player’s campaign, completing missions or advancing the world does not carry that story completion into your own save. Ubisoft says guests retain character-side progress such as money, perk points, and many inventory items, subject to exceptions. In DLC co-op, progress also saves only for the host. The exact categories and exceptions are listed in Ubisoft’s co-op progress support page.

- Each player needs access to Far Cry 5 on a compatible platform.
- Both players need an internet connection and must be friends on that platform.
- On PlayStation and Xbox, Ubisoft says an active PlayStation Plus or Xbox Game Pass subscription is required for console co-op. Its support page does not specify a corresponding paid subscription requirement for PC.
- The host must leave Dutch’s Island before inviting a friend to campaign co-op.
These are the requirements stated by Ubisoft’s invitation support page; subscription terms and online service availability can change by platform or region.
