Heavy Metal Death Can is designed as a one-player survival-horror game and can be played offline. Platform support at a glance
| Platform | Offline and player information | Cloud-save or ecosystem feature | Release date shown by the store |
|---|---|---|---|
| Steam / PC | Single-player; no multiplayer mode is listed | Steam Cloud | May 28, 2026 |
| Xbox Series X|S | Single player; no multiplayer mode is listed | Xbox cloud saves; Xbox Play Anywhere | October 16, 2026 |
| PC through Xbox | Single player; no multiplayer mode is listed | Xbox cloud saves; Xbox Play Anywhere | October 16, 2026 |
| PlayStation 5 | “Offline play enabled”; “1 player” | The listing does not promise cross-platform progression | October 16, 2026 |
The platform labels describe the features currently published by the stores. They are more useful than assumptions based on the game’s genre: every listing treats the game as a solo experience, and none advertises an online service, local co-op, versus mode or cross-platform multiplayer.

Can you play Heavy Metal Death Can offline?
Yes. The clearest wording appears on the PlayStation 5 product page, which marks the game “Offline play enabled” and lists one player. PlayStation also states that the game can be paused during gameplay or cinematics when playing offline.
Steam and Xbox classify Heavy Metal Death Can as single-player. Their listings do not describe an online multiplayer requirement. That fits the game’s structure: you explore the submarine, manage scarce resources and survive the outbreak alone rather than connecting to a session hosted by another player.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
What to do before your first offline session
- Install the game while you have an internet connection and let the platform finish any entitlement or update checks.
- Launch it once while connected. Confirm that the correct account owns the game and that you can reach the main menu or begin a save.
- Close the game normally, then test a second launch with your device disconnected from the internet. This confirms how your particular storefront and account behave offline.
- Reconnect before changing devices or reinstalling. A cloud service can only upload or download a save when the platform is online.
That test is a practical safeguard, not a claim that an online mode exists. Storefront authentication, updates and account policies can change independently of the game’s single-player design, so testing your own setup avoids discovering a sign-in issue when you are already offline.
Is Heavy Metal Death Can multiplayer?
No multiplayer mode is documented in the current official listings. Steam uses the feature label “Single-player,” Xbox says “Single player,” and PlayStation lists “1 player.” None of those pages advertises online co-op, local co-op, competitive play, split-screen or a shared-world mode.
The safest way to state the result is that Heavy Metal Death Can has no supported multiplayer feature documented at present. That wording leaves room for a future update without suggesting that an unannounced feature already exists. If the developer later adds a mode, the store metadata and patch notes would need to be updated before it could be treated as an official capability.

What the solo format means in practice
The game is a retro-inspired survival-horror adventure aboard the fictional Swedish submarine HMS Domherren. Its alternate-history late-1970s setting, fixed camera angles and tank controls place the emphasis on navigation and tension rather than on coordinating a team.

Does it have cross-play?
There is no documented cross-play support. The Steam, Xbox and PlayStation pages do not list cross-platform multiplayer, and there is no multiplayer mode for players on different systems to join.
Cross-play normally means that two people can enter the same online match or co-op session from different platforms. Because the current product information describes a one-player game and does not provide an online session feature, a Steam player cannot join an Xbox or PS5 player in Heavy Metal Death Can.
Do not confuse the availability of the game on several platforms with cross-play. A title can release on PC and consoles while keeping each version as a separate solo purchase. That is the situation indicated by the current store metadata.
Does Heavy Metal Death Can support cross-save?
Cross-save between Steam, Xbox and PS5 is not documented. The available labels show platform-specific cloud services: Steam lists Steam Cloud, while Xbox lists Xbox cloud saves and Xbox Play Anywhere. Those labels confirm cloud storage or entitlement features inside their respective ecosystems; they do not prove that a save can move between those ecosystems.

Steam Cloud
Steam’s feature list includes Steam Cloud. A compatible save can therefore synchronize through the player’s Steam account and be available on another computer using the same Steam ownership and account. That is Steam-to-Steam convenience, not evidence of a Steam-to-Xbox or Steam-to-PS5 transfer.
Xbox cloud saves and Play Anywhere
Xbox lists both Xbox cloud saves and Xbox Play Anywhere. Play Anywhere is the Xbox ecosystem’s cross-device purchase and play program, covering the Xbox Series X|S version and the Windows PC version presented through Xbox, with the listing also mentioning handheld devices. A player using the same Xbox account can use the ecosystem’s cloud-save and entitlement features across supported Xbox versions.
Xbox Play Anywhere should not be read as a bridge to the Steam edition or the PS5 edition. Buying the game on Steam does not create an Xbox Play Anywhere entitlement, and neither service’s label promises that a save file can be imported into the other.

PlayStation 5 saves
The PS5 product information confirms offline play and one-player support but does not promise cross-platform progression. A PS5 save should therefore be treated as belonging to the PlayStation ecosystem unless Krufs Productions publishes an explicit policy or technical feature that says otherwise.

Can a save move between PC and console?
Assume no, unless the developer provides a specific cross-progression announcement. “PC” is not one unified save environment here: the Steam version and the PC version delivered through Xbox are associated with different storefront ecosystems. Steam Cloud does not establish compatibility with Xbox cloud saves, and Xbox Play Anywhere does not establish compatibility with Steam or PlayStation.
The same caution applies to a console switch. A save made on Xbox Series X|S should not be expected to appear on PS5, and a PS5 save should not be expected to appear on either PC edition. The currently published platform information contains no transfer procedure, account-linking instruction or shared progression policy for those moves.
Before changing platforms
- Finish the section you are playing or make a manual save before closing the game.
- Allow the original platform to complete its cloud synchronization while connected.
- Keep the original installation and account active until you have confirmed whether an official transfer option exists.
- Do not delete local saves on the assumption that a different platform will restore them.
- Check announcements from Krufs Productions for any later cross-progression support; an explicit statement would need to name the platforms covered.
What kind of game is it?
Heavy Metal Death Can is a survival-horror adventure set on HMS Domherren, a fictional Swedish submarine in an alternate-history late-1970s world. The official descriptions emphasize fixed camera views, tank-style movement with modern control options, limited ammunition, inventory management and a group of survivors dealing with the Sludge outbreak.
That design explains why the offline answer matters. The core loop is built around atmosphere, exploration, combat decisions and story discovery that do not depend on a server or another participant. You can approach it as a self-contained campaign rather than as a service game whose main content disappears without an internet connection.

- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.

Release dates and where each version fits
The Steam listing gives the PC release date as May 28, 2026. The Xbox listing shows October 16, 2026 for Xbox Series X|S and the associated PC offering, and the PlayStation Store shows October 16, 2026 for PS5.
Availability, prices, ratings and platform policies can change, so check the relevant store immediately before buying. The meaningful purchasing distinction for saves is the ecosystem you choose: Steam, Xbox Play Anywhere or PlayStation. Choose the version that matches the hardware on which you expect to continue your campaign, because the current information does not establish a route for moving progression between those ecosystems.
Common mistakes and how to avoid them
“It is on three platforms, so it must have cross-play.”
Multiplatform release and cross-play are separate features. Cross-play requires an online mode and an explicit compatibility statement; neither is present in the current listings.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
“Cloud saves mean I can move the file anywhere.”
Cloud saves normally synchronize within the service that owns them. Steam Cloud and Xbox cloud saves are useful, but their labels do not promise interoperability with each other or with PlayStation.
“Xbox Play Anywhere includes the Steam PC version.”
Play Anywhere applies to the Xbox ecosystem’s supported console and PC versions. It is not a universal PC license and does not convert a Steam purchase into an Xbox entitlement.
“Offline means I never need to connect.”
The game’s campaign is offline-capable, but installing, updating, validating ownership and synchronizing cloud data are separate platform operations. Connecting before a trip or outage is the sensible way to prepare.
Quick Recap
Bottom line for each question
- Can you play offline? Yes. PlayStation explicitly marks the game “Offline play enabled,” and the title is presented as a solo campaign on all listed platforms.
- Is it multiplayer? No multiplayer, co-op or versus mode is documented.
- Does it support cross-play? No cross-play feature is documented, and there is no listed online mode to connect players.
- Does it support cross-save? Cross-save between Steam, Xbox and PS5 is undocumented. Treat saves as platform-specific.
- Can PC and console players share a save? Do not assume so. Xbox Play Anywhere covers supported Xbox versions, while Steam and PS5 remain separate ecosystems in the published information.
