“PAL DS” is informal shorthand here: the practical issue is the handheld model and whether the game is standard DS software or DSi-exclusive, not a separate PAL video mode for DS cartridges.

What if you mean a PAL Nintendo 3DS?
Nintendo UK says most Nintendo DS games work on Nintendo 3DS, but some DSi games purchased outside the PAL region may not. - Identify the handheld. Confirm whether you have a Nintendo DS, DS Lite, DSi/DSi XL, or 3DS; compatibility guidance differs by model.
- Identify the software type. A standard DS cartridge is generally region-free. A DSi-exclusive card is region-locked, and a DSi Shop download is region-specific.
- Check for special hardware requirements. If you plan to use a 3DS, DSi, or DSi XL, confirm that the title does not require a Game Boy Advance-slot accessory.
