Ubisoft says a Ubisoft Account is necessary to play Just Dance 2024 Edition. For Just Dance 2026 Edition, the available official sources confirm account requirements for online features and Just Dance+, but do not clearly establish whether every platform can start or play offline without linking an account. Just Dance Now is a separate mobile service, and Ubisoft says it can be played without a Ubisoft Account.
What “Ubisoft Connect” means for Just Dance
Players often use “Ubisoft Connect” to mean the Ubisoft login. Ubisoft’s console-game documentation instead calls this a Ubisoft Account. Its FAQ for Just Dance 2024 Edition says creating one is necessary to play. That requirement does not mean the Ubisoft Connect desktop app is needed on a console.

Account access and internet access are related but separate questions: an account requirement does not by itself establish that every song or mode needs a continuous connection.
Requirements by edition and platform
| Game or platform | Account requirement | Internet and offline details |
|---|---|---|
| Just Dance 2024 Edition | Ubisoft says a Ubisoft Account is necessary to play. | See platform details below. Ubisoft says up to 40 downloaded base-game songs can be played offline; Just Dance+ songs cannot be downloaded. |
| Just Dance 2026 Edition | The available official sources do not fully establish whether an account is required for every offline startup or mode. Online features and Just Dance+ have account requirements on the PS5 store listing. | The sources do not settle offline startup behavior across all supported platforms. |
| Just Dance Now | Ubisoft’s help result says a Ubisoft Account is not necessary to continue playing. | This is a separate mobile service, not a policy statement for numbered console editions. |
Just Dance 2024: account, connection, and offline play
Ubisoft’s Just Dance 2024 Edition FAQ makes the account requirement explicit. It also distinguishes connection needs by platform:
Recommended Free Tools
#1 Best Overall
- Dance to over 600 songs with the Just Dance Unlimited subscription streaming service. One month FREE included with the game
- Play with friends and share the fun with co-op mode
- Dance the way you like by creating your own personalized custom playlists
- Enjoy eight new kid-friendly songs and choreographies for a family-fun experience
- Use your smartphone to track moves with the Just Dance Controller app – no additional accessories required. Up to six players can join
- PS5 and Xbox Series X|S: internet is needed to set up the game and use the dedicated controller app.
- Nintendo Switch: internet is needed for Online Groups and access to all songs. The FAQ also describes offline play for downloaded base-game songs.
- Offline song limit: up to 40 base-game songs can be downloaded for offline play. Some map versions may not download because of storage limits. Just Dance+ maps cannot be downloaded, and using Just Dance+ requires internet.
These details apply to the 2024 edition as documented by Ubisoft; they should not be assumed to describe every later edition.
What is known about Just Dance 2026 Edition
Ubisoft’s 2026 Edition announcement lists Nintendo Switch, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, and says the game is playable on Switch 2 through backwards compatibility. It also describes Camera Controller mode: one player uses a smartphone through the Just Dance Controller app. Ubisoft lists iOS 14.4 or later and Android 9 or later for that mode.
Rank #2
- Exercise while having fun and start your own your routine with Just Dance Unlimited Sweat mode.
- Team up with your dance-on-demand streaming service!
- Engage the little ones with eight kid-friendly songs and choreographies with Kids mode.
- Just Dance Standard Edition includes a 1-month free trial of Just Dance Unlimited!
The PS5 store listing requires a Ubisoft Account and PlayStation Network account, plus persistent internet access, for Just Dance+ and online multiplayer/features. It does not say that every offline mode requires persistent internet. The available official 2026 information therefore does not give a definitive account-free startup answer for every platform.
Can the phone controller avoid the account requirement?
No. A phone is a way to control the game, not a substitute for the Ubisoft login. Ubisoft describes Camera Controller mode as smartphone-based and single-player. PlayStation says no additional accessory is required for its phone-based movement tracking; that does not remove account or online requirements.
Rank #3
- 40 Hot New Tracks: Keep the party going with the latest hits, like “I Don't Care” by Ed Sheeran & Justin Bieber, and the new song “Into the Unknown” from Disney's Frozen 2

- Choose Your Favorite Songs: Create playlists to customize your Just Dance parties!

If you want to play without a Ubisoft Account
Just Dance Now is the documented alternative: Ubisoft’s separate mobile-service help result says players can continue without a Ubisoft Account. That statement comes from an official help search result rather than a directly opened help page, so treat it as a narrower confirmation than Ubisoft’s explicit 2024 console FAQ. Do not apply it to the numbered console games.
If you already own a numbered edition, check the current Ubisoft support page for that exact game and platform before relying on offline play. Account policies and setup behavior can differ by edition, while offline song availability is a separate limitation.
