Is there a PS5 setting that unlocks 60 FPS in RDR2?
No. There is no documented in-game option or PS5 setting that turns on 60 FPS for Red Dead Redemption 2. PlayStation’s U.S. Store lists it as the “PS4 Standard Edition” and says it is playable on PS5: PlayStation Store listing.
Keep the game and console software up to date for compatibility, but do not expect a normal system, Game Boost, or display setting to remove the game’s frame-rate limit. PlayStation says Game Boost can improve frame rates for select PS4 games; it does not identify RDR2 as a game that reaches 60 FPS through the feature. Why do some pages say Red Dead has 60 FPS on PS5?
They may be referring to the original Red Dead Redemption, not Red Dead Redemption 2. Rockstar’s October 4, 2023 update notes for the original game say: “Added an option to enable 60 FPS when played on PlayStation 5 via backward compatibility”. What frame rate does RDR2 run at on PS5?
Backwards Compatible lists Red Dead Redemption 2 as “Locked 30 FPS” on PS5. Its record was updated January 4, 2021, so treat it as an older third-party technical record, not a current official Rockstar benchmark: Backwards Compatible’s RDR2 entry. Rockstar’s support index and update materials do not provide a current measured PS5 frame rate; the evidence establishes the supported edition and the absence of a documented 60 FPS option, rather than a fresh official performance measurement. Does RDR2 have a performance mode on another platform?
Rockstar’s RDR2 update notes document a Quality/Performance setting for Stadia, not PS5. The Stadia Quality mode targeted 4K at 30 FPS, while Performance targeted 1080p at 60 FPS. What can you do if you want to play at 60 FPS?
There is no supported PS5 toggle to try. If 60 FPS is essential, wait for an official RDR2 PS5 update or consider a platform and version that officially supports the frame rate you want. The sources here do not establish specific PC hardware requirements or performance targets, so check the relevant platform’s current specifications before choosing an alternative. Avoid treating unofficial modifications as Rockstar-supported PS5 options.
